What is a F1B Mini Aussiedoodle?

The first step is Harley, an F1 Aussiedoodle.  She was bred from a Standard Poodle mother and a purebred Australian Shepherd father.  The F indicates “Filial Hybrid” and the 1 indicates first generation Aussiedoodle.  Harley is 50% Poodle and 50% Australian Shepherd.

Harley was then bred with a Mini Poodle which creates F1B Mini puppies.  The B indicates backcrossing to the Poodle breed.  F1B puppies are 75% Poodle and 25% Australian Shepherd.  F1B puppies are preferred because of their low shed coats while maintaining significant Australian Shepherd features.
