Prof. Harish Dureja
Prof. (Dr.) Harish Dureja holds the position of Dean, Research & Development; Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He is also holding the position of Director, Aryabhatta Central Instrumentation Laboratory, Centre for IPR Studies and Professional Consultancy Cell. He is former Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, M. D. University, Rohtak. He has also been engaged as Visiting Professor at ARCCIM, Faculty of Health, University of Technology Sydney, Australia, Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Centre for Research Impact and Outcome, Chitkara College of Pharmacy, Chitkara University, Punjab, and Adjunct Professor, School of Medical and Life Sciences, Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He earned his Master's in Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics from Punjabi University, Patiala, and Ph. D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He was awarded with 1st Gold-Medal for Best Ph.D. Thesis based on the highest impact factor publications appended in the thesis. Dr. Dureja has been involved in teaching, research, mentoring, advising, and administration for the past 25 years. He has been listed in the World's top 2% of scientists by Stanford University in the years 2022, 2023, and 2024. Prof. Dureja has been awarded research projects worth 1.5 Crore from AICTE, UGC, and Haryana -DST. He has been bestowed with several honors, a few of them worth mentioning include the MDU RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AWARD 2023, the MDU Researcher Award 2020 to 2023, and MDU Best Researcher of the Year Award- 2020 by Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Dr. R.L. Nicore Award 2018 by APTI, the Young Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award - 2014 by Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, Haryana State Branch, Prof. M.L. Khorana Memorial Prize Award – 2005. He is actively involved in drug delivery and regulatory science, including nanoparticulate drug delivery systems, in silico ADME modeling. He supervises scientific research at the postgraduate and doctoral levels. He has guided 70 theses of M. Pharm. and 16 Ph.D. Presently, eight PhD theses are under his supervision. He is an external expert for PhD theses at many Indian and foreign universities. He is the coordinator of the certificate course on AI and ML in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He has been granted one Indian Patent and filed five Indian patents. He has published 300 publications in various International and National Journals of repute. He has an h-index of 44 and more than 7867 citations to his credit as per Google Scholar, and an h-index of 39 and more than 5155 citations per Scopus bibliometric data. Dr Dureja has written/edited TWELVE books by reputed Indian and international publishers. The main titles are - AI and ML in Pharmaceutical Sciences; Drug Delivery Systems for Metabolic Disorders; Drug Delivery Systems for Colonic Disorders, Industrial Pharmacy -II, and Natural Polymeric Materials based Drug Delivery Systems in Lung Diseases. He has published a total of fifty six book Chapters in various books published from Elsevier Inc., USA Humana Press, Springer Science, New York; American Scientific Publishers, USA; University of Serbia, Europe; Nova Science Publishers, USA; and Apple Academic Press & CRC Press of Taylor & Francis. He has been associated with the UGC ePathshala project of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, as a Content Writer for Post Graduate course of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the paper Novel Drug Delivery System. He has delivered more than 250 invited Lectures at various conferences/seminars and symposia. He has also presented papers at various national and international seminars/workshops. He is acting as a referee for the review of manuscripts in various International Journals. He is on the editorial board of renowned journals, including Current Drug Delivery and Current Nanomaterials. He has guest edited a total of SEVEN special issues for the Journals “Applied Clinical Research, Clinical Trials, and Regulatory Affairs” published by Bentham Science Publishers, Current Nanomaterials and Current Nanomedicine, published by Bentham Science Publishers, and Frontiers in Pharmacology, published by Frontiers, Switzerland. He worked as chairman of the Scientific Services Committee (LOC) during the 69th IPC at Chitkara University, Rajpura. He has also been working as President of the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, Haryana State Branch, since 2016. Dr. Dureja is also actively engaged in committees of various Central and State Universities, the Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), National Testing Agency (NTA) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), etc. He is a member/life member of 10 Indian scientific organizations.
