The institute was open to the general public for two days in January as part of petrichor's open house. Physics department also hosted a stall demonstrating simple but exciting experiments as well as detailing department academic/research activities. It was indeed fun time demonstrating physics to the masses.
It was a great time volunteering the Kerala science slam'24 finals happened in our institute. First one of such kind of an even happened in Kerala where, researchers all across the state filtered from four regional slams presented their research ranging from graph theory to cancer research for the general public in simple and engaging manner. It was fantastic to see such a wide audience from all over the state gathering to listen science!!
I was a member of the organizing committee for the annual department symposium in October 2024. Dr. Vijayakumar Chikkadi from IISER Pune has been the invited speaker. It was a joyful 2.5 days filled with learning beyond one's microresearch world, culminating in the fun of trekking to the Dhoni waterfalls.
National science 2024 was celebrated in the department with enthusiastic participation from high school students from the nearby school. Various experiments were demonstrated.
We organised a three day national conference Emerging Topics in Quantum Technology with lectures by experts in various domains of quantum information and quantum technologies and enthusiastic student participation from eminent institutes across the country on November 2-4, 2023.
Apart from quantum information, I am easily distracted by high voltage experiments. Few glimpse from science quest - crystal 2023 edition demonstrations @ IITPKD where, school students visited the departments and laboratories as a part of week long workshop.
