Welcome to Week 3!

As we wrap up imagery and dialogue, we will begin reviewing mood and tone, as well as author's point of view. Students will additionally discuss theme and symbolism before we begin our novel study on Sandra Cisneros' The House on Mango Street! 

Finalizing drafts of Summer as a Person, students will practice peer reviewing each other's work, as well as receive feedback on their own writing.

The only homework students will be assigned is weekly vocabulary, which will be followed by a quiz on Friday. Please follow up with your students about their vocabulary homework! Although assigned at the beginning of the week, students' vocabulary homework is not due until the beginning of class on Friday. Students will also be asked at some point this week to bring a picture of themselves to practice narrative writing about a specific moment in time, modeling the introduction of The House on Mango Street.
