26/01/25 - Net control again for the first 145 Alive event of 2025.
Storm Eowyn threatened to disrupt our planned mobile site at the top of the Wenallt, but it seems the car park is just in the lee of the hill and trees. We had a very busy net, 31 QSOs and activity continued for well beyond the allotted 3 hours.
Many thanks to all who called in, one highlight was a station who was making their first qsos who was joined by another foundation licensee who had done the same at the last event!
Map of our contacts. Setup was a X30 on a telescopic mast conservatively low due to the potential wind around12ft high on a drive on base, using a FTM-300 at 25W. Elevation 220m ASL.
11/05/24 - We ran net control for the South Wales area "145 Alive " event under our club call sign GW4LFO. 30+ contacts, a fun and sunny day had by all!
14/03/2023 - A group of HARC members headed to the RSGB Convention, this was a great opportunity to meet fellow hams and listen to some very interesting talks. A wide variety of subjects was covered, including working amateur satellites, the history of airborne radar, the FreeStar network (Oscar 2E1HWE and Shane M0VUB pictured below), and many many more. We plan to return in 2024!
3/10/2023 - HARC Hosted a talk all about SOTA activation, Kevin Nicholls MW0KXN is a seasoned SOTA activator, he did a presentation describing his setup, valuable lessons he's learned, and some photos of recent trips.
