Harambee (ha-RAHM-bay) Music began as an after-school opportunity for students at Littlejohn Elementary (DeKalb, IL) in 2001.
FOUNDER / CO-DIRECTOR
Dr. Sherry Jones retired from her general music position in 2015. She holds degrees from East Carolina University, Baylor University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. When not at Harambee, church, or chorus rehearsal, she can be found at the gym, in the garden, coloring, or playing with the cats.
CO-DIRECTOR
Ms. Sharon McKee retired from her fifth-grade position in 2019. She holds degrees from Hope College and Northern Illinois University. When not at Harambee, church, the Sycamore Library, or chorus rehearsal, she can be found at the computer watching DCI videos, at Wrigley field, playing board games, doing puzzles, or playing with the cats.
LEAD TEACHING ASSISTANT
Mr. Josh Shriver first joined the group back in 2010 when he was in third grade and has since taken on a teaching role for the group. He is currently going to school at Kishwaukee College for Computer Science. When not at school or Harambee he can be found at the gym, streaming games or at home playing with his dog Odin.
