About Happy McReaders
The Happy McReaders Summer Program is offered in locally-owned McDonald’s restaurants across Southern Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southern Illinois. This program allows participating local libraries to provide children with a special incentive from their local McDonald’s to continue reading over the summer – a Free Happy Meal! About Happy McReaders
This program will begin throughout Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky communities June 8, 2026. Please see the list of local libraries below to see if your library is participating!

How can I get my child enrolled in the program?
Check the list of participating libraries above. If your local library is enrolled in the program on June 8, they will be distributing the Happy McReaders punch cards!
Does this program cost the library to participate?
No, this program is FREE for libraries to offer this summer to area youth.
Can a child complete more than one punch card?
Yes, we want to encourage the continuation of reading all summer long! A child can only redeem one Happy Meal per visit though. So if they have multiple completed punch cards, only one Happy Meal can be redeemed per visit!
If a family has more than one child, will they be able to redeem their punch cards at the same time?
Yes, as long as there are the same number of children present as completed punch cards, they can redeem for one Happy Meal per child present.
What is the age requirement to participate?
Any child under the age of 18 may participate in the program.
