Here is a list of common sense (as well as actual textbook) definitions of medical terminology*
*Interesting that "terminology" sounds a lot like "terminal". We're all "terminal" by the way. No one gets out alive. Most doctors will talk to you as if this is not, in fact, a fact. Maybe keep this in mind when deciding on a course of treatment. What will your quality of life be? I mean, if you were not happy with you choices on how you were spending your time, and you want someone to take your money to tell you how to spend your time, by all means, go ahead and jump on board the "diagnonses identity bandwagon" and go do all the inconcievably invasive, and painful, downright barbaric, complicated, expensive, unpronouceable treatment protocols for "conditions" that are causing you dis-ease, that, if you're "lucky" you might survive long enough for your body to heal itself despite all the harm and inappropriate treatment.Autoimmune - The system that defends you has gone haywire

(or "ill-at-ease" or "ill") This is why relaxation training/therapy is sooooooooo important.
Chronic & Acute (Long & Short)
Chronic - long term (developing over years)
Acute - right now (sudden onset)
Holistic - "Whole" -istic
the whole body/mind/spirit.

Pathology - the study of disease
describing a behavior or physical condition that is extreme, abnormal, and typically caused by a physical or mental illness
Syndrome - a group of symptoms that has no known cause
A consistent, recognizable collection of signs and symptoms that tend to cluster together.
Systems - a system describes all the parts of the body that perform a function (many parts do more than one job).

Immune System - Key Components:
White Blood Cells (Leukocytes): The "soldiers" of the immune system that circulate through the blood and lymph.
Lymphatic System: A network of vessels, lymph nodes, the spleen, and the thymus that filters bodily fluid, stores immune cells, and mounts responses to infections.
Bone Marrow: The spongy tissue inside your bones where all blood cells originate

Word Endings (suffixes)
diagnoses are made up words consisting most commonly of:
the name of a system or body part (often in another language) and
a word ending.
sometimes the dis-ease is named after the most famous sufferer instead
-itis: inflamation
tonsil - itis
appendix - itis
sinus - itis
tendon - itis
it's red, inflammed, and it hurts
-osis: an abnormality
Endometri-osis "the inner lining of the uterus" - osis;
Multiple scler-osis (MS) ~ "sclera" ~ actually the tough, fibrous connective tissue of the eye ~ I don't see how the word "sclera" equates to the "myelin sheath of a nerve" except that people with MS may actually have connective tissue (fascia) that has become "tough and fibrous".
It differentiates from -itis, which specifically denotes inflammation
generally indicates
an abnormal condition (see "-ia"),
disease state (see "dis-ease"),
pathological (see "pathology") process, or
an increase in a physiological element (such as a cell count) (aka: "too-muchy")
-emia: means a blood condition or the presence of a substance in the blood
Anemia: A condition characterized by a deficiency of red blood cells or hemoglobin, leading to reduced oxygen transport and fatigue.
Bacteremia: The presence of bacteria in the bloodstream.
Hypoglycemia: An abnormally low level of glucose (sugar) in the blood.
Leukemia: A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow, marked by an abnormal increase in white blood cells.
Derived from the Greek word haima (meaning "blood"), it is used to describe various systemic disorders, infections, or chemical imbalances related to the circulatory system.
-ia: Words ending in -ia typically denote conditions
Poikilothermia: a medical condition in which the body loses its ability to internally regulate its core temperature, causing the body's temperature to fluctuate with the surrounding environment.

-asia (along with related forms like -asis and -osis): a condition, state, or process.
It usually denotes an abnormal, unhealthy, or diseased state of a specific body part or system. Common examples include:
Ectasia: The dilation, stretching, or expansion of a hollow organ or vessel (e.g., bronchiectasis, the abnormal widening of the airways).
Phasia: A root/suffix combination relating to speaking or speech conditions (e.g., aphasia, the loss of ability to understand or express speech)
