COVID-19 regulations

No quarantine required for vaccinated travelers

Fully vaccinated travelers are not required to quarantine on arrival. Travelers with proof of vaccination issued outside of South Korea must register their proof of vaccination through the Q-Code system before departure and scan the provided QR code upon arrival.


Mandatory proof of vaccination to avoid quarantine

Travelers must present valid proof of vaccination in order to avoid quarantine on arrival in South Korea. Travelers with proof of vaccination issued outside of South Korea are exempt from quarantine on arrival if they register their proof of vaccination through the Q-Code system before departure and scan the provided QR code upon arrival. Travelers are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after they received the second dose in a 2-dose series or a single dose in a single-dose series (Janssen). Travelers must have received their most recent dose a maximum of 180 days before arrival, or a booster shot. Accepted vaccines are Pfizer, Janssen, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Covishield, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Covaxin, and Novavax. Travelers whose most recent dose was taken more than 180 days before arrival and who have not received a booster dose may also be considered fully vaccinated and exempt from quarantine if they can provide valid proof of recovery from COVID-19. These travelers must submit documents with the PCR test results from their initial infection and proof of complete recovery to the quarantine officer in Korean or English on arrival.

Proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result

Travelers, including nationals, must have a printed negative COVID-19 NAAT (PCR, RT-PCR, LAMP, TMA, SDA, NEAR, and others) test result in English or Korean. The COVID-19 test must be taken a maximum of 2 days before the date of departure, and the result should be negative.

Note: Electronic results such as on mobile devices are not accepted.

Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test a maximum of 24 hours after arrival in South Korea.

Visa requirement

Electronic travel authorization

To visit South Korea for Business or Tourism, you require a visa. The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is required for visa-exempt visitors entering South Korea. It is an online application. If approved, you'll receive your eTA confirmation electronically. When you arrive in South Korea, border crossing will ask for your passport and check their electronic records to ensure you have the proper visas.

Note: Your eTA is electronically linked to your passport and valid for up to 2 years. When you receive a new passport, you must apply for a new eTA. For all other visas, visit the government site.

Direction

After arriving at Incheon International Airport (ICN), it is strongly recommended that you take COVID-19 test at the airport. You have to take COVID-19 test within 24 hours of arrival and getting a test at the airport is the easiest way. Visit this page for further information.

The best way to get around Seoul is via Subway. To use Subway or other public transportation such as Airport Railway and Bus, you need a T-Money card, which can be purchased at any convenient store in the airport.

From Incheon International Airport (ICN) to Plaza Hotel

  • Use Airport Railway at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and get off at Seoul Station (59-66 mins, 4,750 KRW). At Seoul Station, take Taxi to the hotel (5 mins, 4,000 KRW) or transfer to Metro Line 1 (Blue Line) towards City Hall station (1 stop). Take Exit #6 at City Hall Station and walk to the hotel (3 mins).

  • Use Airport Railway at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and get off at Hongik Univ. Station (55-60 mins, 4,750 KRW). At Hongik Univ. Station transfer to Metro Line 2 (Green Line) towards City Hall station (5 stops). Take Exit #6 at City Hall Station and walk to the hotel (3 mins).

  • Take Taxi at the Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to the hotel (usually 60 mins, 70,000~80,000 KRW).

  • Use Hotel limousine (Call the hotel to reserve a seat, 150,000 KRW).

  • Take Bus 6701 at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and get off at Plaza Hotel (16,000 KRW).

From Incheon International Airport (ICN) to Yonsei University

  • Use Airport Railway at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and get off at Hongik Univ. Station (55-60 mins). At Hongik Univ. Station, take Taxi to Yonsei University (10 mins, 5,000 KRW) or transfer to Metro Line 2 (Green Line) towards Sinchon station (1 stop). Take Exit #3 at Sinchon Station and walk to the campus.

  • Take Taxi at the Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to Yonsei University (usually 60 mins, 70,000~80,000 KRW).

From Plaza Hotel to Yonsei University

  • Shuttle to Yonsei University departs from Plaza hotel at 13:00 (Monday), 08:30 (Tuesday), 08:30 (Wednesday), 08:00 (Thursday), and 08:30 (Friday).

  • Take Metro Line 2 (Green Line) at City Hall Station to Sinchon Station (4 stops). Take Exit #3 at Sinchon Station and walk to the campus.

  • Walk to Bus Stop Seosomun (#02134). Take Bus 472 and get off at Severance Hospital. Walk to the campus.

  • Take Taxi to Yonsei University (10-15 mins, 7,000 KRW).
