"Leonard provided information in a way that fit today's learning atmosphere. He took hard concepts and made examples in the real world so that a comprehensive understanding was developed. He was always very outgoing, making many exceptions for circumstances, and always showed up with a smile."
"Leonard's lecturing was some of the best that I have had in a class at WVU, as his numerous real life examples and applications for every single concept were extremely helpful."
"Leonard is a very nice guy! He responds to emails very promptly, and cares a lot about the students he is teaching, making sure to always ask if people need help or clarification about material. I like how he uses the white board to better convey ideas that are difficult to explain without a visual aid... Having your class was a blast, and thank you so much for your time! "
"The way concepts were explained are excellent. I would go as far to say Haoyu is the best instructor I’ve ever had. "
In addition to teaching, I also mentor undergraduates and staff in building basic skills in economics research. This includes learning how to clean data, write papers in basic LaTeX, and run simple regressions in R. This provides them with a good starting point for doing independent research in economics, while also helping me strengthen my own research skills.
