Hi, I'm Haoyu Du 杜浩宇

This is a 3D-printed Clebsch surface with its 27 lines highlighted in green. Greg Egan has a phenomenal computer model of this object here

I am really lucky to have friends like Cece (left) who's a dentist-to-be, and Lola (behind camera) who's a brilliant Asian American Studies scholar.

About me

I am currently a research associate at the Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (Saxelab) at MIT. Most of the time I work with Freddy and Emily on visual development during infancy, which is really cool. The rest of the time I am a software engineer. I am broadly interested in developmental cognitive neuroscience.

At the end of April 2023, I graduated with a combined Bachelor's and Master's of Science in Mathematics through the CUGS program at the University of Michigan. In Ann Arbor, I also studied linguistics and German. During those years, I explored my interests in two genres of science: 1) combinatorial methods to learn more about algebraic & geometric objects (project on GitHub) and 2) mathematics in neuroscience, which includes topics such as signal processing (CNL @ UMich) as well as optimization for computational neurobiological models.  I also thought a lot about interpretability in the machine learning realm of NLP
