(translation) Earthworms have no advantage of claws and fangs, nor strength in its sinews and bones and yet earth is eaten away from the top and water from hell's pools be drunk. This is because of resolve. (An Exhortation to Learning, Hsun Tzu)

A statement about My PhD thesis: my thesis contains not-for-publication/unsubmitted work and work in progress by the time of my thesis defense (and the submission deadline was soon after that) where further revisions and changes are necessary (but unfortunately revisions after the approved submission are not allowed by the OSU). Meanwhile, I regard my thesis as a record of (part of) what I have learnt in my graduate study and will not consider it as my own work, not only because it is based on the joint work with my collaborators above, but also because it is based on the pioneering work of numerous mathematicians in homogeneous dynamics and number theory who built the foundation of these fields and subfields — whom I believe are the true heroes and I should not take credits that belong to them. Therefore, please do not refer to or cite my PhD thesis. Instead, please always refer to and/or cite our completed work listed above when needed, where my collaborators' names are included (this is very important). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.
