Hansen CAPT

What is the Hansen CAPT? 

The Hansen Canton Association of Parents and Teachers (CAPT) is a non-profit organization that supports the Hansen school community - including students, families, and staff - by providing additional educational opportunities inside and outside of school, supplies, and programming not funded by the town. 

What does that mean? The Hansen CAPT:

• Subsidizes the cost of field trips for every grade so families pay a lower fee

• Reimburses teachers for some expenses and sponsors staff appreciation days

• Organizes and pays for educational, fun in-school assemblies

• Conducts fundraisers to pay for the above

• Organizes, funds, sets up and hosts school-wide events, such as the Holiday Shop and End of Year Picnic

What are some ways involved with the Hansen CAPT?

There are a few different ways to be involved with CAPT - all of which start with signing up via our Membership form each year at the start of school. You will see that going around soon. 

Volunteers can help in different ways, including:

- Pick up items for events or school supplies during the day

- Store items until event days at their home

- Set up events beforehand with their children

- Make phone calls, write emails, and manage vendors

- Visit classrooms as a room parent

- Staff events during or outside school with their children
- Donate funds or supplies throughout the year
