The curtain call for guarding life——An investigation on the development status of hospice care in Nanjing

Hospice care refers to the provision of medical, nursing, psychological and social care for dying patients and their families. In the new era of rapid population aging, the old-age security system needs to be improved, and the end-of-life medical expenses are high, the implementation of end-of-life care has become an inevitable trend of social development. As an imported concept, hospice care is still in its infancy in my country. In recent years, the research and practice related to hospice care in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and other regions of China have continuously made breakthroughs and innovated to produce localized development models. However, the development of hospice care in Nanjing has not been smooth sailing. Why did private organizations stop volunteering for hospice care for various reasons, why the public awareness is low, and why Nanjing, as a center of science and education, does not have a sufficient team of social youth volunteers to join the hospice care... There are many problems in development that are worth exploring for reasons and countermeasures. This social work aims to increase the social recognition of hospice care and volunteer service participation through publicity activities, stimulate college students to think about life, and help the popularization and mature development of hospice care in Nanjing by proposing countermeasures to existing problems .
