Would You Like to Join Our Team?
If you are an undergraduate student and would like to contribute to the work being conducted in our lab, please write to Prof. Hannula (hannula@uwm.edu). In your message, indicate what it is about our work that you find particularly interesting and why you'd like to get involved in research at UWM.
How Does it Work?
Students who work in the lab have volunteered, can earn elective credit (by enrolling in Psych 290 or 690), or may apply (collaboratively with Prof. Hannula) for a SURF (Support for Undergraduate Research Fellow) Award and be paid an hourly wage. To apply for SURF funding, Prof. Hannula requires that you have worked in the lab for credit or on a voluntary basis for at least one semester (often two). Students who apply with Prof. Hannula for SURF funding have demonstrated a commitment to the work that we are doing in the lab.
Additional information about securing a research position in a faculty-directed lab can be found here.
Pro Tip! If you are considering graduate school, especially a PhD program, research experience is imperative. Please see this document for some practical advice about how best to prepare for the application process. Additional resources can be found on the departmental website here.
Interested in Research Participation?
Undergraduate students enrolled in Psychology classes may be able to earn extra credit for research participation. Please check your syllabi to see whether this applies to you. Studies that are active and open for research participation are listed on the SONA research participation website.
