Mentoring Philosophy
"Throughout my (previous) athletic career, I have interacted with amazing coaches - from a young age through my collegiate softball career. And in primary school through higher education, I had great mentors who helped me become who I am today. From each coach to teacher to professor, I have learned different characteristics that help me to grow. I believe in the power of teaching and mentoring because I was mentored. I believe that we should be giving back by coaching and mentoring others! I am grateful for the mentoring opportunities I have had so far, and I look forward to continuing to break down the gatekeeping aspect of academia.
My mentoring philosophy is to help my mentees find their strengths, help them to fail quickly, efficiently, and forward, and to discern their path forward. To support them, to openly communicate with them, and to lead them in ways that will allow them to self-discover and create their own success, and therefore the lab and team success. At the end of the day, we are a team."
