I am a co-founder of WAMMS which is a UK-wide networking scheme established in 2023. Our aims are to:
Promote a sense of community amongst women and other minority genders working in applied mathematics in the UK
Foster relationships between academics at all career stages
Encourage a platform for sharing information on all aspects of academic life
Provide support and mentorship to early career researchers
The scheme currently has supported over 85 members across 34 institutions, including participants from Senegal, Italy, Germany, and Estonia. Our average feedback rating is 8.6/10 with participants highlighting that they most like the safe environment for open conversations.
Scheme website coming soon! Contact me if you would like to sign-up.
I was co-organiser of the fourth edition of the RWAM series at the International Centre for the Mathematical Sciences (ICMS). More details on RWAM can be found here: RWAM 2026
I co-led a roundtable on Promoting EDI in Mathematics at the latest RWAM iteration, which included discussions on intersectionality, focus and gaps of current EDI initiatives in academia, and possible future initiatives. Slides can be found here.
Main outcome of this session is ongoing efforts for a UK-Wide Working Group for Promoting EDI in Maths.
