The Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was founded October 11, 1890, by Mary Smith Lockwood, Eugenia Washington, Ellen Hardin Walworth, and Mary Desha. The DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women's service organization.
Do you have a Revolutionary War Patriot ancestor? Do you have a female relative that you know or heard was a member of the DAR? Do you think your family history goes back generations and the United States, and you may have a Revolutionary War Patriot Ancestor?
For more information about the process to become a member, prove lineage, or find out how to get started. Please contact our chapter registrar.
The Hannah Luther Bosworth Chapter, NSDAR, meets monthly between September and May in the heart of Strongsville, Ohio, a southern suburb of Cleveland.
If you are interested in attending a meeting or want more information about our Chapter. Please email our chapter regent.
Our membership is open to any woman 18 years or older who descends directly from an ancestor who aided in the cause of American independence.
She must document both her lineal descent and the Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor.
If you're just starting your family history journey, the DAR has some amazing online resources on how to do family research, but also the research databases to assist you in locating your patriot ancestor. Check out the DAR's Genealogy Resource page.
Because the Hannah Luther Bosworth Chapter, NSDAR, offers so much for so many different women. We connect with our community through participation in a variety of activities and services, centered around Education, Historic Preservation, and Patriotism. From participating in the Strongsville community parades and veteran memorial and recognition ceremonies to cleaning grave markers and participating in Wreaths Across America for the Strongsville Cemetery. We support local students through scholarships and school supply collections. We support military service members and honor our veterans. Each monthly meeting offers a unique blend of programs, ranging from presentations from community organizations to information topics to celebrations. Separate from regular monthly meetings, we also have a book club hosted by the chapter librarian and volunteers to help with your heritage research. We offer a fellowship of women joined together by a common bond and passion for service. We are the Hannah Luther Bosworth, NSDAR.
