Introduction
Mission Statement: To see diversity and to have empathy with the world I interact with.
I am passionate about culturally-relevant instruction and bringing about equity through education. Everyone has a different story and background and it is crucial to recognize this within the classroom. It is important to use picture books in the classroom as windows and mirrors in order that students have the opportunity to see themselves and learn from others.
I have a theatre minor, I have loved being involved in theatre and having a creative outlet. I have seen theatre integration in the classroom to be greatly beneficial and allowing students to express themselves and move in different ways.
I had the privilege of growing up overseas in South Africa and the Philippines. This showed me the importance of understanding different cultures and how culture impacts how we think and interact with the world around us.
