Mathematical Biology and mathematical modeling is an interdisciplinary field of research which connects mathematics with biology, ecology and so on. From the mathematical point of view, the aims are to describe a biological process by a mathematical model, analyze that model by either analytical or numerical means, compare the results to experimental data, and predict more biological phenomena based on the outcome of the model.
In recent years there has been an increase in the amount and variety of biological data, resulting in increased efforts to improve our quantitative understanding of biological systems, cementing mathematics biology as an invaluable interdisciplinary field. Consequently, I was interested in working and continuing my research in this area based on my background
It is my belief that combining knowledge from disparate disciplines can provide a unique opportunity for developing new models for understanding complex phenomena. Consequently, I am especially interested in research incorporating interdisciplinary, unusual, and innovative approaches. Having studied both Mathematical Biology and Dynamical Systems, I have an interdisciplinary background. As a PhD candidate at Georgia State University, I will be conducting research on tissue engineering. The main focus of my research has been applied dynamical systems and delay differential equations (DDEs), particularly in the application of techniques in ''DDEs" or ''PDEs" and dynamical systems to the modeling and analysis of biological and physical phenomena. I am therefore well prepared to continue my research in tissue engineering as a result of my work in this field. My research statement can be viewed or downloaded by clicking here.
