HANCOCK’S MAKI SIGNS NLI TO PLAY GOLF AT IU EAST

Hancock, Mich. - Hancock Central High School senior Kyle Maki signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Indiana University East Red Wolves men’s golf team next fall/spring. The signing ceremony took place at the high school Wednesday afternoon with Hancock Athletics Director Chris Salani, Kyle’s parents Don & Amy Maki, IU East Men’s Golf Coach Jeff Williams, current and future teammates, along with additional family and friends present.

Maki has been a member of the HCH varsity golf team for all three seasons of his high school career (COVID-19 canceled his junior year). He earned U.P. Dream Team and 1st Team All-Conference honors his sophomore campaign. Maki’s senior golf season is still in progress under Coach Paul Sintkowski.

IU East Coach Jeff Williams said “I’ve gotten to know him (Kyle) really well, and everything I’ve seen just excites me to have him as part of our program.”

I’m really excited to continue my golf career in Richmond at IU East,” said Maki. “I like my teammates, I like my coach- it’s going to be a good time.”

Maki also lettered three seasons in varsity hockey for the Bulldogs.


Congratulations to D’Andra Kero who received the Senior Female Athlete of the Year Award!💛❤️D’Andra competed in the sports of volleyball, basketball, and softball during her tenure at HCH, earning 3 varsity letters in volleyball, 4 in basketball, and 3 in softball.She was team captain of the volleyball team, earning second team all conference accolades, and was named team offensive player of the year for the 2019 season. D'Andra was a four year starter for the basketball team, earning all conference honors, all conference second team, and all conference first team awards the past 3 seasons respectively, while serving as a team captain during her senior campaign and being recognized as an All-U.P. Honorable Mention for the 2019-2020 season. She also started for the softball team for three seasons, earning all conference honors her sophomore and junior seasons, and was a part of the district championship team in 2019.D'Andra is a 4 year honor roll student, with a cumulative 3.74 GPA.She will be attending MTU in the Fall.
Congratulations to Colton Salani who received the Senior Male Athlete of the Year Award!💛❤️Colton Salani competed in the sports of football, hockey, track, golf and baseball during his tenure at HCH, earning a cumulative 14 varsity letters. In football, Colton earned All-Conference Honorable Mention (x2), First Team All-Conference, First Team All-UP and Second Team All-State accolades as the starting QB for the Bulldogs during his four years. He also served as captain of both the football and hockey teams his senior year. In track, Colton qualified and competed in the UP State finals in each his freshman through junior years.Colton is a 4 year honor roll student, with a cumulative 3.82 GPA and a member of the National Honor Society.He will be attending MTU in the Fall where he will compete as a member of the MTU Huskies Football program.
