My name is 吴翰博 (pinyin: Wú Hàn Bó).
My family name, 吴 (Wú), is a common Chinese surname. Its Cantonese transliteration is Ng. It's also related to the Korean surname O/Oh and the Vietnamese surname Ngô.
The first character of my given name, 翰 (Hàn), means feather or writing brush. Its connotations extend to literary work/talent.
The second character of my given name, 博 (Bó), means plentiful, wide, or erudite. It can also refer to a doctoral degree or gambling. Doing a PhD is like a gamble, isn't it? 🤔
I had a pet name (小名, the nickname people called me during childhood), 黑 (Hēi). It comes from my mum's family name, which is an extremely rare surname in China, probably originating from a historical Turkic tribe.
I'm really into 60s–80s rock music (especially hard rock and post-punk). Some of my favourite bands: The Clash, Joy Division, Kiss, and Led Zeppelin (best band ever 🫡).
