You are lost in a forest until you come across an old cabin. A vampire invites you inside for a cup of tea, but she is not as friendly as she may seem.
Every day you will have a chance to talk over tea and learn more about her. At night you will be given the opportunity to explore the house alone.
Your choices will affect the outcome of the story.
I started this project in 2021 when I was working on another project and felt I needed to build a smaller game to gain some experience and to have something out there. It was going to be a simple visual novel horror game with exploration, choices and a couple of endings.
After 11 months of development I learned a lot about programming new systems and planning and prototyping content for the game. The game released to much bigger success than I anticipated with hundreds of downloads and a couple of let's players making a video on the game.
I used this game to build a lot of systems I've reused in my other projects. One of the systems I needed to make was a dialogue system to have different lines of dialogue appear. I use dialogue triggers which contains lists of dialogue and options such as name, color and events. This makes creating, editing and displaying dialogue very easy.
Another system was a save system which I used to save variables of specific scripts in the scene and write them to a local file. This lets me save the game at any point and pick it up right where I last left off.
All of the games scenes were rendered as images in Blender and imported into Unity. This was done to add the sketchy outline to all the objects. The idea was that the entire cabin was pitch black so that all of the rooms and objects are too dark to see and only vague outlines can be sensed.
