Workflow aids for astrophotography editing with over 100 macros including functions such as star size reduction, various tone stretching methods, multi-bandpass sharpening, diffuse glow, mono data colour mapping and more. ________________________________________________________________________________________.

Provides much more flexibility compared to Affinity Photo's standard naive methods of sharpening (Unsharp Mask, Clarity, High Pass). Multi-bandpass sharpening, for example, provides smooth detail enhancement without over-sharpening noise and whilst minimising halo artefacts. The various kernel mask methods focus on enhancing edge detail and are very useful for soft imagery that may need more selective sharpening, such as wildlife photography.

LUTs (look up tables) designed for architecture and landscape editing workflows (both photographic and 3D). They install directly into Affinity Photo and can be applied non-destructively to quickly change the look and feel of your images.

If the above resources have interested you, I do all kinds of editing work including photographic editing, astrophotography post production, portrait retouching, 3D rendering and post production, architecture workflows, video editing and more.

I do a lot of Raw conversion and expected to see Macros and workflows on any kind of adaption i do on photos.

Unluckily i could only find a way to create macros for non raw adaptions but for raw i could not find a Macro feature.

After reaching out to the talented photographers behind some of our favourites, they were kind enough to share their processes with us. Read on to learn how each incredible image was captured and edited.

The final result consists of 106 photos and I used Affinity Photo to stack them together. The application has a very powerful tool that is perfect for undertaking this kind of work. It also gives me the ability to do the stacking and retouching in one app, which makes the process relatively easy.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Doris about her photography last year. Read our interview with her to learn how she developed an interest in photography, how she post-processes her images in Affinity Photo and her tips for photographers just starting out in nature macro photography.

I found some problems with hairs appearing two times in the photos and things like that. I know that other programs have some options to repair these effects manually but within the procedure of calculating the stacked photos.

I also had the problem you observed. With my 24 MP K-S1 I never run into problems - but the program did not like my 36 MP photos from my K-1 (FF camera). I reduced the resolution of my photos and it worked fine.

Lomography's LomoChrome '92 is designed to mimic the look of classic drugstore film that used to fill family photo albums. As we discovered, to shoot with it is to embrace the unexpected, from strange color shifts to odd textures and oversized grain.

This concept of focus stacking helps you deal with all the challenges that come with macro photography. Problems like lack of depth of field, a drastic reduction in sharpness, lack of light, and softened diffraction make it nearly impossible to use narrow apertures upon it.

Professional photographers use this technique to portray multiple objects in focus on various focal planes. This combination results in one strikingly sharp image and renders to the photograph a greater depth without any loss of definition. The result is a highly polished yet very real-looking image.

The best part about focus stacking is that one can implement it in any type of photography. However, to put it into practice you need to understand the applications of focus stacking. In the world of photography, people prefer to focus stacking in situations where individual images have a shallow depth of field. Focus stacking helps you bypass limitations brought about by a lower depth of field.

Sort out all the images you would be using for the process of focus stacking. Using Lightroom, you can select all these raw images which would be a part of the final photograph. After choosing these images, you have to ensure that the key parameters, such as exposure, highlights, and shadows, are uniform across all the raw images. If not, edit them right away so that all the images are consistent in appearance. It makes the process of blending easier.

Focus stacking is a simple trick that can level up your photography and help you stand out from the rest. You can turn a set of images into a stunning shot by investing just a little more time and effort. And let us tell you this, the result is worth all your time and effort!

Hi all,

I have done focus stacking for a while in landscape photography. I have notice this beneficial to get foreground (e.g. flowers ), mindground and background (often quite far away from foregroud) into focus. However, there seem to be some issues : I believe that those glasses with some focus breathing may cause blurred edge areas around those foreground subjects. I typically use Affinity Photo as stacking software. Has anyone of you seen this or is it a specific issue with my configuration only?

Very nice photos, though it would be good to know what has been used to capture them. A find the text a bit too shallow in discussing the software and techniques: in particular, I find it amazing that one of the best software solutions for a mac (according to my experience) is often overlooked. It is called Focus Stacker (www.focusstacker.com/), so you may wish to give it a try.

haha I did the same thing. I have been shooting nikons since the early 2000s having used an d2xs, f5, fm2 and f2a mostly and a bunch of ais lenses. I have since sold all my lenses to invest in my leica m system. (m4, m4-2 and lenses) except for three my 105 1.8 ais, 28 f2.8 ais, and my trusty 55 f2.8 ais. I still have my fm2 for personal use. I use my f2 and 55mm with students in a photography project I always do for my high school class. I have found leica still cant beat nikon portrait lenses like the 105 and 135. The rangefinder just does not allow it. But like you said I would agree the 55 complements my Summicron 50 m I use.

Interestingly, when I started to share my images with my friends and co-workers, they began to bring me Ziploc Baggies full of specimens! I have quite the affinity for jumping spiders, they are truly amazing little creatures and remain quite beautiful even when expired. 5376163bf9
