OH, SINDHU, BE THE SAME - MUHIB ALI RAJPER
OH, SINDHU, BE THE SAME - MUHIB ALI RAJPER
Translated by: Dr. Ghazal Shaikh & Marvi
O Sindhu, be the same again!
How will I bathe in the sand!
O where did my valiant savior go!
I am terrified, forlorn,
For years, the fields are stripped and torn,
The tide is gone, the heart is turned dry,
The god of the patriots is now detached,
With deception, the river is being snatched,
The breath out of Sindh is being snatched,
What songs, what dances shall we rehearse!
What other waters are for the Bulhan!
Manchar, Keenjhar are pleading now,
They are gathering crowds to plead now,
Jogis are ready to fight a war,
And desperate women are ready.
Mehars shall ride the tides once more,
While Suhnis are waiting for them (their Mehars),
Only remaining water is drizzling,
Villagers' cattle are dripping,
Neither a dam nor a canal is needed,
Free-flowing Sindhu and its breath is needed,
Come and be a friend of Bulhan!
O Sindhiya! Be my friend in pain!
O Lion! Break the cruel chains,
So that the roaring shores of Sindhu dance at Keti & Kharo,
Slip over Sindh mother's chest,
And be the adorn front of her Choli,
O Sindhu be the same again! How shall I jump in the shallow puddles,
O Sindhu be the same again!
