We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new elective program here at Temple Emanu-El, designed specifically for our TEEn Community (8th - 12th Graders). This program aims to provide our teens with unique and enriching opportunities to explore their interests, cultivate new skills, and deepen their connection to our vibrant community.

Our program will consist of 3 mini-mesters, taking place during the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms, with an average of 10 sessions in each mini-mester, on Tuesday nights at Temple Emanu-El from 7:00-8:30 pm. Dinner will be served each week.

We have curated a diverse range of exciting electives for your teens to choose from, ensuring there is something for everyone. These electives have been thoughtfully designed to provide an engaging and transformative experience for our teens.

We are delighted to have a team of experienced and passionate experts who will be leading these electives, providing valuable guidance, mentorship, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

We encourage your teen to carefully consider their interests and choose electives that align with their passions and curiosity. Teens will have the flexibility to participate in one or more mini-mesters, tailoring their experience to suit their schedules.

Our CBI teen program offers a variety of interactive, engaging and compelling programs for students post b’mitzvah in grades 8-12. Teens can choose whether they prefer a more academic or social-action oriented program or mix and match

Tichon Grades 8-10 meets once a month to explore timely topics of interest to teens. Blending current events with our heritage and tradition, Tichon encourages our post b’mitzvah students to find the connection and relevance of Judaism in contemporary times.

Tichon Grades 11-12 has a series of programs with Rabbi Ari Isenberg to focus on issues relevant to them.

All teens are invited to work as Madrichim Teen Assistants in our Blanche Bayar Religious School.

In addition to the formal programs, 8th through 12th graders are encouraged to participate in our Kadima and USY youth groups.

Temple Sholom

Scotch Plains

Temple Sholom (in addition to all its other programs that post-Bet Mitzvah Jewish adults can join) offers three specific (non-exclusive) ways geared directly to teens (8th to 12th grades). Our Temple Youth groups - SPICY & MILD are affiliated with NFTY and participate in Temple and regional events. We invite those who have finished Hebrew School to volunteer as madrichimot in our Religious and Hebrew schools.  Our educational path through Confirmation (10th grade) includes participation in HaMakom as well as a core class each year with their Temple cohort.  In 10th grade, our students travel together to Central Europe for a Jewish heritage trip, and celebrate their Confirmation at Shavuot.
