Halstead Wrestling Club Bylaws
Article I – Name and Purpose
The organization shall be known as Halstead Wrestling Club.
The purpose of the club is to:
Promote the sport of wrestling for youth athletes.
Provide a safe, structured environment for training and competition.
Encourage sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
Foster personal growth, confidence, and respect both on and off the mat.
Article II – Membership
Membership is open to youth athletes ages 5 to 18 who meet the eligibility requirements set by the club and governing bodies (USA Wrestling, AAU, or state associations as applicable).
Parents/guardians must complete registration forms, pay required fees, and sign waivers before participation. Including the registration with USAW.
Members must maintain good conduct, sportsmanship, and adherence to team rules.
The Board reserves the right to suspend or remove members for violations of bylaws, policies, or misconduct.
Article III – Governance
Board of Directors: The club shall be governed by a Board consisting of at least:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
At-large members (as needed)
Board members will serve 2 year terms, elected by the membership or appointed as outlined in these bylaws.
The Board is responsible for:
Setting club policies and direction.
Approving budgets and managing finances.
Organizing events, practices, and tournaments.
Ensuring compliance with governing bodies.
Article IV – Meetings
The Board shall meet at least quarterly; special meetings may be called as needed.
Membership meetings will be held at least once per year to review progress, finances, and elect officers (if applicable).
A simple majority of the Board constitutes a quorum.
Article V – Finances
The Treasurer shall maintain accurate financial records and present a report at each Board meeting.
Club funds may only be used for approved expenses related to wrestling operations, equipment, insurance, and events.
No officer or member shall personally profit from club funds.
Two signatures are required on checks over $300.(President and Treasurer, Vice President can sign in absence of the President)
Article VI – Coaches and Volunteers
Coaches must be approved by the Board and meet all background check and certification requirements set forth by USAW.
Coaches are expected to uphold the values of safety, sportsmanship, and positive youth development.
Volunteers (parents, assistants, etc.) must follow club rules and may be removed for misconduct.
Article VII – Code of Conduct
Athletes are expected to:
Show respect to coaches, teammates, opponents, and officials.
Give their best effort in practice and competition.
Follow all safety and training rules.
Parents/guardians are expected to:
Support athletes in a positive manner.
Respect officials and coaches.
Avoid unsportsmanlike behavior at practices or events.
Article VIII – Amendments
These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the Board, or by membership vote if required.
Notice of proposed amendments must be given at least 2 weeks before voting.
Article IX – Dissolution
In the event the club dissolves, all remaining funds and assets shall be distributed to a nonprofit youth sports organization or wrestling association as determined by the Board.
