If you want a classic, warm glow that works seamlessly with older factory dimmer circuits for track days, choose HALLMERS 5pcs; if you need crisp, uniform illumination with a modern PCB build and superior diffusion for reading gauges at night, choose SHINEOFI 5pcs.
• HALLMERS 5pcs: Delivers a traditional halogen filament look that is fully dimmable on standard 12V circuits, but offers less brightness and a warmer, potentially less precise color temperature than LEDs. Best for purists restoring vintage dashboards or those who prioritize authentic incandescent warmth.
• SHINEOFI 5pcs: Features a robust resin-based PCB design with 3D diffusion technology for even light spread across the cluster, though it relies on SMD LED technology rather than a heated filament. Best for drivers who want maximum visibility of icons and a clean, modern aesthetic.
• Both packs contain five bulbs designed for T5 sockets, yet they serve different lighting philosophies: one mimics the old school, the other embraces the new tech.
The HALLMERS 5pcs set is built around the philosophy of tradition. These are clear halogen wedge bulbs rated at 12V and 1.2W, designed specifically to replicate the behavior of original equipment in many 12-volt automotive lighting circuits. The defining characteristic here is the filament. Because these are incandescent bulbs, they emit a continuous spectrum of light that feels familiar to anyone who has driven a vehicle from the last few decades. If you are prepping a car for a track day where you want the dashboard to feel exactly as it did when it rolled off the assembly line, this is the route to take.
The compact wedge base is a practical feature for installation. You simply push the bulb into the socket; there is no twisting required, which means you can swap out your gauge cluster lights without struggling with tight spaces behind the dash. This makes them an excellent choice for owners of vehicles that still utilize standard incandescent dimming systems. If your car's interior dimmer knob works by reducing voltage to the bulbs, these will respond linearly, fading out smoothly as you turn the dial down. That analog response is something many modern LEDs struggle to mimic perfectly without extra resistors or complex wiring.
However, this product is not for everyone. If you drive a newer model vehicle that uses high-efficiency LED clusters already, swapping in these halogen bulbs might result in a significant drop in overall brightness. They are designed for low-power 1.2-watt circuits, so they will never be as bright as their high-output LED counterparts. Furthermore, because they rely on a filament, they generate more heat relative to their light output compared to solid-state options. You should skip this option if you are looking for a sharp, cool-white light that cuts through the darkness instantly, or if you are trying to reduce the electrical load on your vehicle's system. These bulbs are strictly for those who value the specific aesthetic and functional behavior of a glowing filament over raw lumens.

The SHINEOFI 5pcs set represents a shift toward modern precision engineering. Instead of a simple glass filament, these bulbs utilize a 3014 SMD LED array mounted on a PCB with a resin build. This construction method is not just about durability; it is about how the light actually behaves inside your instrument panel. The key selling point here is the "3D Diffusion" technology mentioned in the specifications. Unlike a bare filament bulb which creates hot spots and shadows, this resin coating spreads the light evenly across the surface of the gauge cluster. When you are racing on a track, being able to read every number and icon clearly without squinting is critical. This product is engineered to provide that uniform illumination, ensuring that no part of your dashboard is left in shadow.
Durability is another major factor for this pick. The use of resin materials ensures that the internal components are protected against vibration and moisture. In a track environment, where cars are subjected to intense G-forces and rapid acceleration, loose connections or fragile glass filaments can fail. The PCB structure of the SHINEOFI bulbs is inherently more robust against shock than traditional glass bulbs. The weight is minimal, adding negligible mass to the assembly, which matters if you are stripping down a vehicle for performance.
This product is ideal for drivers who want to upgrade their interior lighting without changing the entire dashboard unit. It creates a unique and comfortable atmosphere inside the vehicle, transforming the look of the gauges from a dim, yellowish glow to a crisp, white light. However, potential buyers should note that because these are LEDs, they may not dim as naturally as the halogen alternative if the vehicle's dimmer circuit relies on voltage reduction rather than PWM control. If your car's dimmer switch is very old-school, you might find these stay bright even at the lowest setting. But for anyone prioritizing clarity, longevity, and a modern look, the SHINEOFI set is the superior technical solution.
• Best for Authentic Dimming Behavior → HALLMERS 5pcs: If your car uses a standard voltage-dimming circuit, the halogen filament will fade smoothly and predictably, matching the original factory feel.
• Best for Uniform Illumination → SHINEOFI 5pcs: The 3D diffusion resin build eliminates hot spots, making every gauge number and icon equally visible from any angle.
• Best for Track Day Visibility → SHINEOFI 5pcs: The higher efficiency of the 3014 SMD LEDs provides a brighter, crisper light that helps you read data quickly under varying lighting conditions.
• Best for Vibration Resistance → SHINEOFI 5pcs: The solid-state PCB and resin construction handle the physical stress of aggressive driving better than fragile glass filaments.
• Best for Vintage Aesthetics → HALLMERS 5pcs: The warm, continuous spectrum of the halogen bulb maintains the classic look of older dashboard designs.
• Best for Low Power Consumption → SHINEOFI 5pcs: While both are low power, the LED technology generally draws less current to produce more light than the 1.2W halogen equivalent.
• Easiest Installation → Both: Both feature a push-fit wedge design that requires no twisting or modification, allowing for quick swaps in tight spaces.
• Best for Long-Term Reliability → SHINEOFI 5pcs: Resin-encased electronics typically have a longer lifespan than incandescent filaments which eventually burn out or degrade.
For my money, if I am prepping a vehicle specifically for track days where split-second readability of the tachometer and speedometer is non-negotiable, I would choose the SHINEOFI 5pcs. The uniform illumination provided by the 3D diffusion technology is a massive advantage over the scattered light of a filament bulb. On a track, glare and shadows are distractions I cannot afford, and the resin build gives me confidence that the lights will survive the rigors of high-speed cornering. While the HALLMERS option has its charm for restoration projects, the SHINEOFI set offers the functional superiority needed for performance driving. In my opinion, the modern engineering wins out when safety and clarity are the primary goals.
The HALLMERS 5pcs are explicitly compatible with standard 12V incandescent dimming circuits and will fade smoothly. The SHINEOFI 5pcs are LEDs and may not dim as effectively on older voltage-reduction dimmers, depending on your specific vehicle's electronics.
Yes, the SHINEOFI 5pcs are constructed with a PCB resin build designed for durability and reliability, offering better resistance to vibration and shock compared to traditional glass filament bulbs like the HALLMERS.
The HALLMERS 5pcs provide a warm, traditional halogen glow typical of older vehicles, while the SHINEOFI 5pcs offer a brighter, more uniform white light thanks to their 3014 SMD LEDs and 3D diffusion technology.
Both products feature a straightforward push-fit wedge design that allows for easy installation without twisting or modifying the socket, making them convenient for DIY setup.
