Welcome! In this little corner of our website you can get updates and key information, blog-style. There is a lot of excellent information about OBOB both here on the Hallinan site as well as the district site and beyond. We know it can be a lot to sort through and figure out what is most relevant right now. We hope this filters out the noise and helps keep you organized on what matters most in this moment.

So what is most important right now? Team formation & registration, and getting the kiddos to read, read, read!

Now is the time to solidify the members of your team and get registered! If you haven’t registered your team yet, you can do that here. Registration must be complete by 11/26. The team coach is responsible for completing the form with one registration per team. Parents/guardians can also complete this same form to indicate that your student is interested and we will help form the team.

Once registration is complete, we will send you a confirmation email with a link to a student contract. Please share this link with the parents/guardians of your team members. Parents/guardians will need to work with their students to sign the contract by December 31st in order for the student to participate.

Teams can have 2-5 members. Keep in mind that the fewer members you have on your team, the more books each team member has to read. 

• While a 2-person team is allowed, we don’t recommend it. In our experience, it’s too many books for each kiddo to read, and if one person is sick on the day of battles, the team would not be able to participate (because at least 2 people must participate in the battle).

• The maximum number of team members that can participate in a battle is 4. If you have a 5-person team, one person will need to sit out for each battle (this person can rotate for each battle). A 5th person is valuable in the event a team member is sick or unable to make a battle. Also, some kiddos want to participate in OBOB but might not want to participate in the actual battle, so we highly encourage 5-person teams!

We will have a coaches kick-off meeting & training on December 4th. Mark your calendars!
