Thanks for stopping by!

I am a psychologist who studies how people make decisions, interact in social life, and think about the future. For an overview of my research papers, please use the menu in the top corner.

I hold a position as Professor of Psychology and Leadership at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), at the Department of Strategy and Management. I am also an affiliated researcher at the FAIR center at NHH, and the Center for Conflict and Cooperation at New York University.

The core topics in my research are the psychology of time, morality, and happiness. I typically combine perspectives from social psychology, decision-making research (JDM), and behavioral economics, using both large-scale experiments and global survey methods. In my view, we must study the social to understand the individual: Much of the way people think and feel is there to aid group belonging, cooperation, and competition. I am a great believer in "team science", and do most of my work in collaboration with other researchers.

If you should have any comments about my research, suggestions for future directions, or invitations for research talks or public speaking, please do not hesitate to contact me (hallgeir.sjastad@nhh.no).
