My overall research interests are political institutions and their importance for modern democratic systems. More specifically, I have focused on executive-legislative relations and challenges related to parliamentary oversight and how to hold executive powerholders to account. This includes a focus on issues such as parliamentary system settings, institutional design of oversight options, parliamentary committees, Ombudsman and audit institutions, the role of political parties, and political behavioural logics. For more information, please find my detailed description here.

Lately, my research includes a focus on the European Union, international policy collaboration and the implications for national administrative systems. The main concerns in my research are policy capacity implications due to multilevel state developments and shifting centrifugal and centripetal tendencies in institutional EU policy management.

Additionally, my Faroese origin implies that I have addressed various institutional challenges for sub-state units both within as well as in relation to the international system. Additionally, my research has addressed challenges for the Danish Realm construction (Denmark, Faroe Islands and Greenland). For more information, please find my detailed description here
