Privacy Policy – Lifecounter
Last updated: 5 June 2026 Data controller: Hallar AS, Norway Contact: hmhallaraker@yahoo.no In short Lifecounter is a life-counter app for Magic: The Gathering. The app is local-first: your games, player profiles, counters, history and drawings are stored only on your own device and are never sent to us or to a server. Syncing between devices happens directly over nearby Bluetooth – never over the internet. We have no user accounts and do not collect your name, email or any other personally identifying information. Two third parties – Google AdMob (ads) and Sentry (crash reporting) – receive limited technical data, described below. 1. What we at Hallar AS collect
Nothing. The app has no server, no accounts and no login. We do not see your games, player names, drawings or history, and we have no way to identify you as a user. The Bluetooth sync feature ("Nearby Rooms") exchanges game data directly between phones over Bluetooth. This data never reaches Hallar AS or a server – it only travels between the participating devices for the duration of the game. 2. What third parties collect
2.1 Google AdMob (ads) The app shows a banner ad via Google AdMob. AdMob collects a limited set of technical data to deliver and measure ads: • An advertising ID • Device model, operating system version and language • Approximate location derived from IP address (country/region level) • Whether an ad was requested and shown The app requests non-personalized ads only. This means AdMob does not use the advertising ID to build a behavioural profile of you. Google is an independent data controller for this data. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy 2.2 Sentry (crash reporting) When the app crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent to Sentry so we can fix the problem. Each report contains: • A technical stack trace (which functions were running) • The app version (e.g. lifecounter@0.4.2) • Device model, operating system version and language • A randomly generated installation ID (not tied to an account) Crash reports do not contain the contents of your games, drawings, player profiles or any text you have entered. Collection of personal data is disabled in the configuration. The project uses Sentry's EU data region (Frankfurt), so crash reports are stored on servers in the European Union and are automatically deleted after 90 days. Sentry's privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/ 2.3 Apple and Google (distribution) When you install or update the app, Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) handles the download and may collect their own usage statistics. We receive only anonymised, aggregated figures. 3. What the app does NOT do
• No analytics tools (no Firebase, Google Analytics, etc.) • No accounts, login or email collection • No access to contacts, calendar, microphone, camera or photo library • No precise GPS location • No tracking across other apps or websites • No personalised advertising profile 4. Permissions the app requests
• Bluetooth: used solely to sync a game between nearby devices. The app never connects to the internet to share game data. • Location: not requested. On older Android versions the operating system historically required a location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices; the app is configured so that this permission is removed automatically on newer Android. The app is for a general audience, has no chat or user content visible to others, and no in-app purchases. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because all data is stored locally on your device: • Access: open the app – all your data is visible there. There is no copy on our side. • Deletion: uninstall the app and the local database is permanently removed. • Rectification: edit any data directly in the app. For data handled by Google, AdMob, Sentry or Apple, contact them directly via the links above. We are happy to help route a request – write to the contact address at the top. 7. International transfers
Sentry crash reports are stored in the European Union (Sentry's Frankfurt region). AdMob and Apple/Google operate globally. Hallar AS is established in Norway. The transfers above rely on the recipients' own lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g. the EU Standard Contractual Clauses). If we change this policy in a way that affects how the app handles your data, we will update the date at the top. Questions, complaints or rights requests: Email: hmhallaraker@yahoo.no If you believe Hallar AS has handled your personal data in breach of the GDPR, you may lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet): https://www.datatilsynet.no/
