This is my absolute favourite gig because I really love educating people, simplifying complex subjects by infusing personality and making them both understandable and enjoyable. I'm up for blogging, ghostwriting, long-form article writing, and ebook projects. I know it can be a little tricky to engage readers without bombarding them with your wealth of experience and things they may not need. So I'm here to take it off your hands and let you focus on the more sciency stuff.
It took me a while to discover that my superpower lies in editing, not writing. Fueled by a passion for consistency, a recognisable style, and the pursuit of (almost) perfection, I've honed my eyes to spot the minutest details in written content. Given that mistakes are not uncommon in writing, I specialize in identifying weird punctuations, unnatural sentences, deviations from brand tone, and other common grammatical blips. So, before you hit publish, send, or print that masterpiece, consider giving it a fresh set of eyes. Mine.Â
We've all heard the advice: post every day, engage with your audience, and don't fixate on metrics—just keep showing up. Sounds simple, right? Well, experience has taught me that maintaining true consistency on social media, especially for a business brand, isn't as easy as it sounds.
The key? Preparation is everything. You either need to plan way ahead or have a dedicated social media manager. If hiring a manager isn't in the cards, consider building a content bank that houses enough material for about 3-6 months. With this approach, your only job is to hit that 'post' button. And guess what? I'm here to make that process a breeze
As a scientist, I often liken our work to that of a devoted DIY enthusiast—because, let's face it, we practically do everything ourselves, meticulously following instructions in both wet lab experiments and bioinformatics analyses. Now, think about the worst nightmare of any avid DIY lover: incomplete or incoherent instructions. The fallout from such a scenario can be unpredictable, leading to frustration and a significant loss of resources.
Having experienced the user end of unhelpful guides, I understand the struggle. Let's break that cycle together. Whether it's a tutorial, a concise how-to guide, or comprehensive software or hardware documentation, I'm here to take a thorough look. I'll tell you, in the nicest way possible, whether it's a potential nightmare waiting to happen or a dream come true for your future users.
While you may have mastered the art of writing about your science, navigating the broader landscape of science communication involves more than just crafting compelling content. It's about understanding what to write, when, and where to position it for maximum impact. Communication outlets are abundant, but let's be real—you can't be everywhere at once.
So, where should you be? How should you write? Why should you write? These are the questions we'll tackle together. Communication strategy is a collaborative effort, and I'm here to guide you through it. Reach out, and let's have a brainstorming session. We just might discover that sweet spot for your message.
Welcome to Custom Projects. The beauty of science & tech is in its versatility, going beyond the boundaries of typical blogs and social media content. I mean white papers, case studies, PowerPoint presentations, and a few others that might not even have a standard name yet.
Have a communication project that doesn't quite fit into the usual categories? I'd love to hear about it. I may not be an expert in every niche, but I'd love to figure it out.
