The recommended dress code is is "casual" . . . taking special note to plan for comfort, and to dress in layers. We're at a National Historic site, with lots of exploring to do, so wear comfortable shoes. Also, we're an ocean coastal city, so it gets cool at night and the fog may even roll in, so dressing in layers is best!

Experience our culture . . .

Step into the past as a kilted guide from the 78th Highlanders takes you on a guided tour of the iconic Halifax Citadel. You will visit locations within the Citadel's parade square and atop its ramparts, and learn about its role and strategic importance during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Witness an impressive display of precision drill and firepower as interpreters wearing the uniform of the Royal Artillery load and fire an Armstrong field gun. See how one of the most unique weapons in Queen Victoria's army would have been used on the battlefield, and feel the shockwave as each shot is fired.

Hear our music music . . .

The Front

The Front is a band straight from the suburbs of Halifax, specialize in the golden oldies. If you’re feeling nostalgic for hits from the 60s and 70s then they've got you covered! They may be young but these guys know how to put on a good old fashioned show full of classic energy, wicked riffs, and killer vocals.

Height Requirement

The early days of the band had the original members practising in a basement with a 6ft ceiling. Fortunately everyone was an appropriate height which resulted in naming the band, “Height Requirement!” Height Requirement is a dance party band that plays hits from the 80’s. Our music includes the likes of the supergroups and one hit wonders that we all love to sing along to.

Taste our food . . .

George's Island Buffet Menu (sample items only): Maple glazed plank sides of salmon with creamy lemon dill sauce; caesar salad with fresh romaine, crisp local pancetta, foxhill asiago, white balsamic caesar dressing and garlic croutons, strawberry shortcake slice, tea and coffee.
