Our office is closed on weekends and all holidays.
Any messages left outside of business hours will be returned the next business day.

We do not accept walk-ins.
STOP ALL ANTIHISTAMINES (allergy medications), cough/cold medicine, tricylic antidepressants (amitriptyline), and diphenhydraminate (Gravol®), for FIVE (5) DAYS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
If you have a chronic hive problem, please stay on your antihistamines
DO NOT STOP any of your asthma medications, nasal sprays or eye drops
Please bring any medications you are taking (including AeroChamber and creams/ointments)
All patients 16 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring your health card
Skin tests are simple pin-pricks on the arm, usually cause very little, if any, discomfort and are generally tolerated well by patients.
These appointments can take up to 1 hour.
This appointment has been scheduled as a Phone Call consultation. We will schedule you in clinic for further testing if necessary, after your conversation with your physician.
This call may come from a Blocked Number. Please ensure your phone is not silenced to Blocked Calls as our physicians may not be calling from within the clinic during this time.
Please have a list of current medications available to list to your physician.
Our physicians strive to run on- time, however please allow a grace period of 1 hour as some appointments may run a bit longer than scheduled.
Drug Challenge: If you were given a prescription at your last appointment please bring it with you, otherwise we will have at the office for your appointment.
Food Challenge: Please bring the food of concern as discussed at your last visit.

Check Blood Pressure Medication. If you are on blood pressure medications, please check with your allergist to see if any of these need to be held for the challenge.
No Cough or Cold Symptoms. If you (or your child) has a cold, flu, cough, wheeze, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever the test will not be done for safety purposes. Please contact our office before coming as the challenge will need to be postponed until you are well. If you do not reach staff, please leave a voicemail indicating you are unwell, and we will call back to reschedule.
Please prepare to arrive at our office and remain until the scheduled challenge is completed, approximately 2-3 hours, as you are not allowed to leave our office once the challenge has begun.

Before Starting OIT
To prevent a delay in starting your treatments, if you have not heard from Guardian Bedford Pharmacy in 3-5 business days, please contact them at 902-407-4374 to set up your child’s profile.
Please call the office once you have paid for this prescription and we will schedule the first appointment.
The pharmacy typically takes 2-4 weeks to ship the prescription to us.
Your First Visit
Please ensure you bring a bowl, spoon, and applesauce (or other food to put the OIT in) to each appointment.
After Consuming OIT
You must wait in the office for 30 mins after EVERY dose in case of reaction. Your allergist will check your child and the following 30 mins you can spend in Park Lane Mall.
What To Know
You will require at least 12 appointments to complete this treatment.
It will take approximately 6-12 months to reach the maintenance dose.
How often you schedule a dose increase will be up to your allergist. Typically, 2-6 weeks apart. No sooner than 14 days.
Please book your next appointment at each visit to ensure you do not have a delay in treatment. Only 2 appointments can be scheduled at a time. The schedules book up very quickly in the 2–4-week range.
Running Out of Capsules?
Please notify the office. We will determine if more capsules will be sent to your home or if you will need to pick them up at the Bedford Guardian.
Please keep in mind that the schedules book up quickly and the pharmacy may require at least 1 week to have prescriptions made and shipped to your home.
You have been scheduled in the office to receive your Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) (Grass/Dust Mite/ Trees/Ragweed Tablets). We will provide this in the office to start and give you a prescription at this appointment to have filled at your pharmacy
Once you are given the tablet you must stay in the office for 30 mins to be monitored then will be checked and let go by either the nurse or your doctor.
There is no preparation for this appointment unless otherwise specified at your last appointment by your doctor in our clinic.
This appointment has been scheduled as a Phone Call Follow Up. Please do not come to the office for this appointment.

There is no preparation for this appointment. If you are wondering if you will have skin testing done at this appointment. Please call the office.
Allergy shots are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 8:00am - 11:15am & 12:45pm - 2:00 pm
You must remain in the office for 30 mins after every injection.
Please complete the form to give to your nurse after checking in for your appointment.
Please always book your appointment after receiving your injection. Only two appointments can be scheduled at a time.
During the build-up you will need to receive your injection every 5-9 days.
If you have another physician to oversee your allergy shots, please remember to call our office to reorder your serum when you have TWO doses left. Once we receive the vials, we will notify you and schedule you in the office to receive the first injection from your new vials.
Please let your healthcare provider know of any recent illnesses. You should not receive your injection if you are sick.
If you have already left the clinic and are experiencing symptoms that same day - please call and return to the clinic. After hours, please visit your nearest emergency room.
All appointments will be sent by our automated system. You will not receive an appointment by mail.
Appointment will be sent via Text message, if you do not have the ability to receive a text you will receive a robot call.
If any contact information changes please ensure to update the office.

All referrals are triaged by the physicians in our office and wait times are sent back to the referring office within 14 business days of receiving.
Please check with your referring office to see the status of your referral.
We will notify you directly when your appointment is scheduled.
Once you confirm your appointment, all reminders will stop.

If you require a prescription refill and it has been less than 1 year since your last appointment and you are an active patient, please ask your pharmacy to fax us a request.
If it has been greater than 1 year, we will not be able to refill your prescription. You may have your family doctor refill your prescriptions.
We are a referral based clinic. If it has been longer than 1 year since your last appointment, we will require a new referral from any physician.
This will be triaged by the physician in our office and a wait time will be sent back.
Adult Routine : 3.5-4 Years
Pediatric Routine : 1.5-2 Years
Urgent and Semi urgent referrals are booked within 3 months of receiving.
If your condition has changed ask your referring provider to send an update.
Our clinic uses Medeo for sending patient information.
This platform allows us to send documents in a secure format.
You will need to create an account to open any documents.
If you need to relay information to us, please always call the office.
Due to waitlists, as of June 2023 we longer accept referral for ages 17 and older that are not a resident of Nova Scotia.
Ages 16 and under will be accepted to our pediatric allergists.
