York Valley Cedar Shakes & Shingles

Our Eastern White Cedar logs are picked right from the Ontario Highlands of our area.

From there they are turned into beautiful cedar shakes and shingles that have proven their durability for centuries.

We are committed to producing a truly green product that starts from the ground and returns to the ground.

Our products are suitable to a wide range of roofing and siding applications and distinguish themselves in heritage home restoration or replication.

Cedar Shakes

Our cedar shakes give a texture and beauty that no other roofing material can give. At 24” long with a 7/8” butt shakes can be installed with a 8 to 10 inch exposer.

Shakes act as a second layer of insulation resulting in a roof that is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
A properly installed cedar roof lasts 40+ years and turns a beautiful silvery grey over time.

Cedar Shingles

For centuries cedar shingles have been a product that offers longevity and beauty for many structures.

Our 18” shingles have a 5/8” butt for added durability and are normally installed at a 6” exposer.

Shingles are used for sidewall applications, but can be installed on small roofs such as gazeboes. When installed on a sidewall cedar shingles can last 100-120 years and will turn silvery grey over time.
