BIOGRAPH

Haiwei Chen received his Ph.D. in Optics & Photonics from University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA, in 2017 and B.S. in Optoelectronic Information Engineering from Beihang University, Beijing, China, in 2013. Now he is a Hardwave Display Engineer at Amazon Lab126, Sunnyvale, California, USA.

His research interests include display devices, virtual reality/augmented reality technologies, liquid crystal-based soft materials, spatial light modulators, and smart lighting.

He was awarded ILCS Glenn H. Brown Prize in 2018 for his Ph.D. achievement. Also, he is one of the recipients of 2017 IEEE Photonic Society Graduate Student Fellowship, 2017 SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship, and 2017 SPIE Newport Research Excellence Award. He received the SID Distinguished Student Paper Award in two consecutive years (2015 and 2016).
