HairLog ("the App", "we", "our") is a personal hair growth and hair-fall tracking app for Android, developed by Parenthesis. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
The short version: HairLog works entirely on your device. We do not collect, upload, sell, or share your photos, logs, or measurements. We do not run a server that receives your data.
All of the following is created by you and stored only on your device:
Photos you capture with the in-app camera (scalp, hairline, or other areas you choose to photograph), including the date, time, and capture zone.
Hair-fall logs you enter (severity level, approximate hair count, notes, and dates).
Hairline measurements you create (reference object type and size, the points you mark on a photo, and the calculated distance in centimeters).
App settings and preferences (for example, capture zone, reminder frequency, and default reference object).
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or device identifiers.
Your information is used only to provide the App's features on your device:
Showing your photo timeline and side-by-side comparisons
Displaying trends and charts of your logs and measurements
Calculating hairline distance from the points you mark
Sending reminders you have chosen to enable
Photos and data are saved in the App's private storage on your device. Other apps cannot normally access this storage. The App does not transmit your photos or data to any server.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with anyone.
The App does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or crash-reporting services that receive your data.
Export: The App lets you export your photos and logs as a file or report. Exporting is an action you start yourself. Once you save or share an exported file (for example, by sending it through another app or storing it in cloud storage), it is handled under the terms and privacy policy of that app or service, and we have no control over it.
Camera: to capture tracking photos inside the App. Photos are not taken in the background.
Notifications: to show reminders you have turned on. You can disable this at any time in the App's settings or in your device settings.
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, or SMS.
If you have Android's backup feature turned on, your device may back up some app data to your Google account as part of its normal system backup. This is controlled by your device and Google account settings, not by the App, and is subject to Google's privacy policy. You can manage or disable backups in your device settings.
View and edit: you can view your photos, logs, and measurements in the App at any time.
Delete: you can delete individual entries, or use "Delete all data" in Settings to remove everything the App has stored.
Uninstall: uninstalling the App removes its locally stored data from your device (except any files you previously exported or backups held by your Google account).
Because we do not hold your data on any server, we cannot recover it if you delete it or lose your device. Please export your data if you want to keep a copy.
HairLog is a personal tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Measurements are estimates that depend on photo angle, lighting, and how accurately you mark points. Consult a qualified healthcare professional about any hair or scalp concerns.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Since the App does not collect data from anyone, no personal information is transmitted to us.
Your data stays on your device, and we rely on your device's built-in protections (such as screen lock and Android's app sandboxing). We recommend using a screen lock, because anyone with access to your unlocked device could open the App and view your photos.
If the App changes in a way that affects how data is handled (for example, adding cloud backup or analytics), we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date above, and where required we will notify you in the App before the change takes effect.
