Hair Day App Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 1st, 2026 Last updated: July 31st, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Hair Day App mobile application ("Hair Day App," "the app") accesses, collects, uses, stores, shares, retains, and deletes user data. Hair Day App is developed and published by Aminah Taariq-Sidibe ("we," "us," "our").
This policy applies to the Hair Day App on iOS and Android. Please read it before using the app. By using Hair Day App, you agree to the practices described here.
Hair Day App is a local-only application. All information you enter is stored on your own device and is not transmitted to us or to any third party. We operate no servers, maintain no user accounts, and have no technical means of accessing, viewing, or recovering your information.
The sections below describe in detail what data the app accesses, how it is used, how it is secured, and how long it is kept.
Below is every category of personal or sensitive user data that Hair Day accesses or stores, why it is used, and where it is kept. None of the categories described in this section are transmitted off your device, and none are shared with us or with any third party. Each is stored exclusively in the app's private, sandboxed storage area on your own device.
Photos and images. If you choose to attach a photo to an entry, the app accesses the image you select and saves it locally. These photos let you visually track hair condition, styles, and progress over time. The app accesses your camera or photo library only at the moment you invoke that feature, and only for the images you specifically select.
Health and wellness information. Any notes you voluntarily enter about hair condition, scalp condition, hair loss, texture changes, treatments, or similar topics are stored locally and used solely to display your logs and history back to you within the app.
User-generated content. Routine names, product names, notes, ratings, tags, and journal entries are stored locally and power the core logging and tracking features of the app.
App activity and preferences. Wash-day schedules, reminder settings, in-app settings, and theme selections are stored locally, used to configure the app to your preferences, and used to schedule reminders through your device's own notification system.
Date entries. The dates you assign to entries are stored locally and used to organize your logs chronologically.
Sensitive data. Some of what you record in Hair Day — photographs of yourself, and notes about hair or scalp health — may be considered sensitive personal information under applicable law. We treat all of it as sensitive. None of it is collected by us, transmitted off your device, or shared with anyone.
Hair Day App does not access, collect, or store any of the following:
Name, email address, phone number, mailing address, or any other contact information
User accounts, usernames, or passwords
Precise or approximate location data
Contacts, calendar data outside the app, call logs, SMS messages, or other messages
Financial or payment information
Government identifiers
Web browsing history or search history
Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID) or device identifiers
Installed application inventory
Audio or microphone data
Crash logs, diagnostics, or performance data collected by us
Hair Day App requests the following permissions. Each is optional. Declining a permission disables only the related feature; the rest of the app continues to work.
Camera — used only when you choose to take a photo to attach to an entry. The app accesses the camera at the moment you invoke it and at no other time. Images are written to the app's local storage.
Photo library — used only when you choose to select an existing photo to attach to an entry. On supported OS versions, you may grant access to selected photos only rather than your full library.
Notifications — used only if you enable reminders. Reminders are composed and scheduled locally by your device's operating system. No reminder content is sent to us or through any external service.
You can review, change, or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
We do not share any personal or sensitive user data with any third party, because we never receive it.
Specifically:
We do not sell personal information.
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not transfer personal information to advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or marketing partners.
We use no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no attribution or tracking SDKs.
We do not use your data to train machine learning or AI models.
The app makes no network requests that transmit your content.
The only parties that receive any information related to your use of Hair Day App are:
Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play). When you download, purchase, or update the app, the relevant app store processes that transaction and may collect information such as your account details, download records, device information, and crash data. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy, not by this policy, and we do not control it. Any aggregated statistics an app store provides to us (for example, total download counts) do not identify individual users.
Your device backup provider, if you enable backups. See Section 7.
If we are ever legally compelled to disclose user data, we would have nothing to disclose, as we hold none.
Because Hair Day App does not transmit or store data on our infrastructure, the primary security risks associated with cloud services — server breaches, credential theft, interception in transit, insider access — do not apply. We handle security as follows.
Data in transit. Hair Day App does not transmit your personal or sensitive user data over any network. There is no transmission to secure. Any network requests the app does make (such as retrieving app updates through the operating system) occur over HTTPS/TLS and carry no user content.
Data at rest. Your data is written to the app's private, sandboxed storage area, which the operating system isolates from other applications:
On iOS, app data is stored in the app's container and protected by iOS Data Protection. When your device has a passcode set, this data is encrypted at rest by the operating system using hardware-backed encryption.
On Android, app data is stored in app-private internal storage, accessible only to Hair Day App under its own application user ID. On devices with file-based or full-disk encryption enabled — standard on modern Android versions — this data is encrypted at rest by the operating system.
Access control. No Moss Studio employee, contractor, or system has access to your Hair Day App data. We hold no keys, credentials, or backdoors that would permit access. Access to your data is controlled entirely by your device's own lock screen, biometric authentication, and OS-level permission model.
Minimization by design. The app is built to collect nothing it does not need to function, and to keep everything it does need on the device. We consider this the strongest available protection: data that is never gathered cannot be breached, subpoenaed, sold, or leaked.
Third-party code. We review the libraries included in the app to confirm that none introduce telemetry, analytics, or data transmission. If a future release requires a component that transmits data, we will update this policy and the app's store disclosures before that release ships.
Your responsibilities. Because your data lives on your device, its security depends substantially on your device's security. We recommend enabling a passcode, PIN, or biometric lock, keeping your operating system updated, and not installing the app on a jailbroken or rooted device, where OS-level sandboxing and encryption protections may be defeated.
Breach notification. In the unlikely event of a security incident affecting Hair Day App, we will publish notice through the app store listing and, where required by law, through other appropriate channels.
Our retention period is zero. Moss Studio does not receive, store, or retain any personal or sensitive user data from Hair Day App at any time. There is no retention schedule on our side because there is no data on our side.
Retention on your device. Data you create in Hair Day App remains on your device for as long as you choose to keep it. The app does not automatically expire, archive, or delete your entries. You remain in control of the retention period.
How to delete your data.
Delete individual items. Entries, photos, products, and routines can be deleted individually from within the app.
Delete by uninstalling. Uninstalling Hair Day App removes the app's private storage container, including all entries, photos, and settings, from your device.
Deletion is permanent and immediate. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered by you or by us. We have no backup, no archive, and no copy. Deletion within the app or by uninstalling does not remove copies held in device backups you have separately enabled — see Section 7.
Account deletion. Hair Day App has no accounts, so there is no account to delete and no account-deletion request to submit.
If you have enabled iCloud Backup (iOS) or Google One / Android Backup (Android), your device's operating system may include Hair Day App's local data in its routine device backups. These backups are created, encrypted, stored, and controlled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies and terms. Moss Studio has no access to them and no visibility into whether they exist.
You can prevent Hair Day App's data from being backed up by excluding the app from backups in your device settings, or by disabling device backup entirely. If you have already backed up and then delete the app's data, a copy may persist in the backup until it is overwritten or you delete the backup through your provider.
Hair Day App is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and in fact collect no personal information from any user. Because no data is transmitted to us, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request access to or deletion of from our systems; any data a child has entered can be removed directly on the device as described in Section 6. If you believe a child has used the app and you wish to remove their data, deleting it in the app or uninstalling the app accomplishes this completely.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and other state and national privacy laws. These typically include rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing.
Because Moss Studio does not collect or process your personal data, we cannot fulfill these requests in the ordinary way — we have no records to search. Instead, these rights are satisfied directly and immediately through the app itself: your data is already in your sole possession, and you can view, edit, export, or permanently delete it at any time without asking us.
For clarity under California law: we do not sell personal information, we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted without a right to limit.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK and wish to contact us about data protection, use the contact details in Section 12. Moss Studio acts as the data controller for the app to the limited extent any controller relationship exists.
Hair Day App does not transfer your data across borders, because it does not transfer your data at all. Your information remains on your device, wherever you are.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app or to legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If we make a material change — in particular, if a future version of Hair Day App begins collecting, transmitting, or sharing data — we will update this policy and the app's App Store and Google Play data disclosures before that version is released, and will notify users in the app or through release notes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Prior versions of this policy are available on request.
