We are fortunate to be only a few minute drive to beautiful Englewood beach here. However that also means we need to be aware of the impact of sun salt and even just the heat that comes along with living in paradise.
Did you know that I use regular iodized salt to remove the color residue from my bottles? Now can you imagine what letting your hair soak up all that salty gulf water can do to your freshly colored locks? I know it is hard not to get your hair wet and I am guilty of accidentally getting a wave over my head, but I do recommend keeping your hair up in a messy bun and trying to allow as little as possible to get in the water. Same goes for a swimming pool, which many are chlorinated with salt. And in case you didn't know, yes you read that right! Salt pools still have chlorine in them. The salt is used by the system to create chlorine which is necessary to keep the water sanitized. And we all know chlorine is not good for our hair either! If you must get your hair wet it is best to wet it down with fresh water and put some leave in conditioner in it. An easy way to be ready at the beach is to keep a spray bottle of a leave in protectant, but even watered down conditioner will be better than nothing!
