Author, Educator, Curriculum Developer
Greetings!
I am Author, Educator, and Curriculum Developer, Hailee Morris.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri I was always surrounded by education, books, and imaginative tales which fueled my lifelong love for reading, writing, and creating unforgettable experiences. My mom, who was an educator for 27 years in the Hazelwood School District, never worked in the summers.
Instead, she chose to fill our time with a plethora of St. Louis adventures such as the History Museum, Zoo, the Black Wax Museum (Griot Museum), Crown Candy, Aquaport, and more. Wherever our adventures took us, we landed at the Natural Bridge library at least once a week. Because of how often we went, I was able to explore a variety of genres from children's adventure comedy like Geronimo Stilton to urban fiction like the Drama High Series I even dabbled in vampire romance novels like the Twilight Series. These are childhood memories I cherish to this day and wish to create for others.
Please explore the drop down menu below to learn more about my Education, Experiences, and My Why.
I graduated Valedictorian in 2014 from Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School.
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy- the study of crop and soils- from FAMU. Upon graduating I decided to pursue my childhood dream of “helping kids”; so, I began teaching in 2019.
I graduated with my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Minority and Urban Education from FAMU. This degree program taught me how to combine my love for writing, understanding of child development, and the science of learning in order to create content that speaks to the learner and meets them where they are while encouraging them to rise to challenge. It is my goal to show readers that learning happens everyday - in and out of the classroom.
Author- I have written and published 5 children’s books since 2020; all books are available on Amazon.
Educator- Over the last six years I have worked as a K-12 teacher gaining valuable insights into the minds and hearts of young readers. During my years of service, I taught in Leon County, Florida; Indianapolis, Indiana; and here, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Curriculum Developer- I have developed and/or collaborated on several curriculums for small businesses, non-profit organizations, and educator professional development trainings. I have worked with clients/organizations in Atlanta, Georgia; Indianapolis, Indiana; and St. Louis, Missouri. Some local businesses I have worked with include I Define Me, A Red Circle, and the National Blues Museum.
I believe in the importance of culturally relevant and culturally responsive pedagogy, ensuring that every child sees themselves reflected in the stories I create. My books often emphasize themes of gratitude, positivity, and critical thinking, encouraging children to explore their own thoughts and feelings in a safe and nurturing environment.
Through engaging narratives and vibrant illustrations, my goal is to create books that not only entertain, but also educate and inspire young minds through the power of storytelling. It is my desire to leave a lasting impact on the lives of young readers everywhere.
