Haiku Down Under 2022

poetry from the edge

2022 Archive

Haiku Down Under 2022, poetry from the edge, held via Zoom from October 7-9, 2022, was a new initiative to connect writers from New Zealand, Australia and beyond.  Organised by Leanne Mumford and Carole Harrison from Australia, and Sandra Simpson, Sherry Grant and Sue Courtney from New Zealand, it was a wonderful mix of workshops, prompted writing sessions and presentations to celebrate our seasons, people, landscapes and seascapes, vernacular language, and flora and fauna.

Commencing with a workshop aimed at beginners, delving into distinctly New Zealand and Australian haiku across the weekend, and exercising writing muscles with workshops that explored topics as diverse as horror, rule-breaking and rengay, the programme had something to offer haiku writers of all levels.

An anthology of haiku and senyru, poetry from the edge – Haiku Down Under Anthology 2022, was produced after the event and is available for purchaseclick here.

Below is a summary of the progamme, or you can view the entire 2022 programme archive here.
