The house is situated in the peaceful and secluded village Häggberget between Städjan-Nipfjället and Vedungsfjällens nature reserve (100 m to the nearest neighbor). The surrounding nature reserves offers beautiful trails for hiking and skiing and the latter has peaks around 1100 meters altitude, Vedrungsfjälllens nature reserve is closest. Fjätervålen Ski Resort are only 16 km away and Idre Fjäll 38 km. To Loftsdalen it´s 50 km.

FJÄTERVÅLEN SKI RESORT has the highest and longest ski slopes in Dalarna!

Fjätervålen ski resort lies only 16 km southwest. Roadmap.

SKI ON THE SLOPES. Fjätervålen has one of Dalarnas best slopes, ranging from elite to beginners. The longest slope is 3 km long. With skipass ¨Idrepasset¨ you can ski in both Fjätervålen and Idres slopes located another 22 km away. Ski equipment and snow shoes can be rented.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING: There are 18 km preparated cross country tracks close to the slopes.

IDRE FJÄLL SKI RESORT

Idre Fjäll ski resort lies 38 km southwest.

SKIING ON THE SLOPES: With the combined skipass "Idrepasset" you can ski at both Fjätervålen and Idre Fjäll.

RESTAURANT and FOOD STORE are available in Idre during the whole year.

THE WATERCOURSE STORFJÄTAN

There's a beautiful place 3 km south, downstream from the house, where Storfjätan widens like a small oblong lake (photo).

Fishing licence enables streaming fishing from this spot and a few hundred meters upstream/north (signposted) and also downstream/south all the way to Särna Lake, a wide fishing area called Särna-Idres FVO. Map of the area here. Häggberget lies in the square B6, meaning it's in the prohibited area. Fishing licenses can be purchased in different stores in Särna, Idre and on the web.

Directions to the fishing area (3 km south from the cabin): Follow the road back towards Storfjäten-Fjätervålen 2 km. Take the first road to the left down to the watercourse.

VEDUNGSFJÄLLENS NATURE RESERVE

Vedungsfjällens nature reserve is a hidden pearl. The area lies only 5 km east of the house. The mountains has typical beautifully rounded peaks, some over 1100 m altitude. Here you find Dalarnas second highest peak, Sömlingshågna 1195 m.a.s.l.

The house in relation to the surrounding mountains of Vedungsfjällen (following peaks can't bee seen from the house):

East (5 km from the house) you find Fonnfjället 1096 m and (9 km) Sömlinghågna 1195 m – second highest peak in Dalarna.
North of this lies Lofsdalen.
In the south (10 km) is Stor-Uckuvålen 1082 m.a.s.l.

Vedungsfjällens nature reserve offers several beautiful hiking trails.

You can start from:

Storfjäten (7 km south) or
Västvallen in Lofsdalen (50 km northeast).

👣 Hiking on Vedungsfjällen from startingpoint Storfjäten.

Road distance: 7 km south. Roadmap.

The trail called Lofsdalsleden is cross-marked (a red cross) up towards Fonnfjället. Coming up to the tree line takes half an hour. There you can choose to walk freely in easy terrain or follow one of the trails. Once up on the fells there are several beautiful mountains to hike on. A shelter cabin called Kölstugan lies 9 km walk northeast from Storfjäten, just north of Fonnfjället.

Up on the tree line maby you choose to walk north, passing Häggingfjället to the steap Sömlinghågna. On distance the mountain looks like an upside down boat (photo). There are fine spots for tents and two shelter cabins by the foot of the steep south side of Sömlinghågna just next to Hågntjärn (photo), 9 km northeast from Storfjäten.

Road direktion to Storfjäten: Follow the road back towards Storfjäten-Fjätervålen 5 km. At the T-junction (where the recykling station is), take left and drive 2 km over the bridge towards Storfjäten until the road ends, stop at the turning area. The trail starts here.

This startingpoint can bee an easier trail if your goal is to make it to Sömlinghågnas peak (which is reachable easiest from the north).
