Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from September to May. The first meeting of the month is a presentation by a club member or guest speaker on a topic of interest to the club. It may consist of a slide presentation, lecture, panel discussion or an entomology lesson. The second meeting is a hands-on fly tying event. A club member or guest demonstrates specific patterns or techniques while explaining and answering questions. HAFFT also has a Beginners’ Table where people new to the sport can learn basic fly tying techniques.
Club outings occur at various times during the season. These usually include an early season Trout pond outing, Mooneye madness on the Grand river, and a summer Bass extravaganza on one of a number of southern Ontario rivers. Other more spontaneous events sometimes occur as well.
HAFFT regularly participates with displays and information booths at local fly fishing forums, etc.
