Hackberry, ultra
The Hackberry Ultra is a cultivar of the common hackberry tree (Celtis occidentalis). It is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 50 to 60 feet (15.2 to 18.3 meters) tall with a spread of 30 to 40 feet (9.1 to 12.2 meters). The tree has an oval to rounded shape and is known for its adaptability to a wide range of growing conditions, including poor soils and drought. It produces small, edible, purple berries that are a food source for birds. The leaves are alternate, simple, and serrated, with a dark green color that turns yellow in the fall. The bark of the tree is gray-brown and develops corky ridges as the tree matures.
