Welcome to Habits. This Privacy Policy describes how Israel Douglas ("We", "Developer") collects, uses, and shares information about you.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy Your data belongs to you. We will never sell, share, or use your individual data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose. We do not build individual profiles for external use. We may only use anonymized, aggregated data to improve the App, conduct research, and share general statistics (e.g., usage trends by region or collective achievements) — never in a way that identifies any individual user.

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Information You Provide

Account Data: Name, email address, and profile picture.
Health & Wellness Data: Data you voluntarily enter about your habits, including sleep data (bedtime, wake time, sleep quality, interruptions) and fitness data (exercise logs, sets, repetitions, weights, workout duration, distances, rest times, personal records, workout routines, and trained muscle groups).
Reading & Book Data: Book titles, authors, reading progress, reading session duration, book notes, and reading status.
Rich Content (Media): Images and videos you capture or upload as daily memories ("Your Day"), attach to your habit notes ("Rich Notes"), or set as your profile picture.
Notes & Journals: Text content you write in habit notes, exercise notes, book notes, and daily entries.
Demographics: Gender and age (optional).

1.2. Automatically Collected Data

Usage Statistics: Frequency of use, consistency scores ("Health Score"), streak data, and interactions with features like Widgets.
Device Information: Device model, operating system, language, and time zone.
Crash Logs: Anonymous error reports via Firebase Crashlytics.
Performance Metrics: Anonymized metrics such as cache hit rates and upload durations, collected solely to optimize App performance.

1.3. Data Collected With Your Explicit Permission

App Usage Data (Android UsageStats): If you enable App Tracking for a habit, we access the Android UsageStats API to read the screen time of specific apps you have selected. This data is used exclusively to automatically track your habit progress.
Location Data: If you enable Weather features in "Your Day", we request approximate location (city-level accuracy) to fetch local weather information. Your coordinates are sent directly to the weather API and are not stored on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

Habit Tracking: To create calendars, calculate streaks, generate charts, and provide feedback on your routine.
Sleep Analysis: To calculate sleep scores, track sleep debt, and provide insights about your rest patterns.
Fitness Analytics: To track workout volume, detect personal records, generate muscle heatmaps, produce performance insights, and display workout summaries.
Reading Tracking: To track your reading progress, manage your book library, and display reading statistics.
AI-Powered Book Recommendations: We use Google Gemini AI (via Firebase AI) to generate personalized book suggestions. Limited book metadata (titles, authors, categories) is sent to Google's AI service. No personal identifiable information (name, email) is included in these requests.
Habit Recommendations: Internal algorithms analyze your existing habits to suggest relevant new habits.
Weather Display: Your approximate location is used to fetch weather data from Open-Meteo API, displayed in your daily entry.
Cloud Sync: Secure storage of your data on Google Firebase.
Widgets: To display your progress on your device's home screen.
Note Export: The App provides a tool to export your notes as images, generated locally on your device and not uploaded to our servers.
App Usage Tracking: Time spent on selected apps is used solely to auto-fill your "Reduce Usage" habit metrics.

3. Device Permissions

Camera & Gallery: Required to set your profile picture, capture daily memories (photos and videos), and attach images to your notes.
Notifications: For habit reminders, bedtime alerts, and workout notifications.
Foreground Service (Android): Used during active workout sessions to keep the timer running when the App is in the background.
App Usage Access (Android): Optional. Required only if you enable automatic app tracking for "Reduce Usage" habits. Can be revoked at any time.
Location: Optional. Required only for weather features. We request approximate (city-level) location. Your location is never stored on our servers.

4. Third-Party Services We share data strictly necessary for the operation of the App:

Google Firebase: For authentication, database, image/video storage, crash reporting, analytics, and App Check.
RevenueCat: For subscription and purchase management.
Google Gemini AI (via Firebase AI): For book recommendations. Only book metadata is shared (titles, authors, categories).
Google Books API: For book search and metadata retrieval.
Open-Meteo: For weather data. Receives approximate coordinates, which are not stored by us.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Security and Retention Your data is stored in a secure Firebase environment. Images and videos undergo compression for optimization. You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data (including media, workout logs, sleep records, and book data) at any time via the App's Profile settings.

6. Your Rights Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a summary of the data we hold about you.
Correction: Update your personal information through the App.
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Revocation of Consent: Withdraw permissions (location, app usage, notifications) via your device's settings.

7. Children's Privacy The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance. For significant changes, we will notify you through the App.
