PRIVACY POLICY - HABITS

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Welcome to Habits. This Privacy Policy explains how Israel Douglas (“we”, “us”, “our”, or “Developer”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Habits application (“App”).

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Your data belongs to you. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your individual personal data for advertising, external profiling, or unrelated commercial purposes.

We may use anonymized or aggregated information to improve the App, understand usage trends, fix issues, and evaluate product performance, but never in a way that identifies an individual user.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Data: name, email address, and profile picture.

Health & Wellness Data: information you voluntarily enter or generate in the App, including habit logs, sleep records, bedtime, wake time, sleep quality, interruptions, notes, goals, and related wellness information.

Fitness Data: workout logs, exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, workout duration, distances, rest times, personal records, routines, trained muscle groups, and related training metrics.

Reading & Book Data: book titles, authors, categories, reading progress, reading session duration, book notes, and reading status.

Rich Content and Media: images and videos you upload or capture for daily memories, habit notes, rich notes, or your profile picture.

Notes & Journals: text content you write in habit notes, exercise notes, book notes, sleep notes, and daily entries.

Optional Demographics: gender and age, if you choose to provide them.

1.2 Automatically Collected Data

Usage Statistics: app interactions, feature usage, streaks, consistency metrics, widgets usage, and general engagement with App features.

Device Information: device model, operating system, app version, language, region, and time zone.

Crash Logs: error and crash reports collected through Firebase Crashlytics to help diagnose and fix technical issues.

Performance Metrics: technical metrics such as cache behavior, upload duration, sync performance, and other diagnostic information used to improve reliability and performance.

1.3 Data Collected With Your Explicit Permission

Health Connect Data (Android): if you enable watch-based sleep sync, Habits may read sleep sessions, sleep stages, heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), respiratory rate, skin temperature, sleep interruptions, latency, efficiency, and other related sleep metrics available through Health Connect.

This data is used only to provide sleep tracking, cloud sync, sleep analysis, insights, and home-screen widget updates. Health Connect sync requires your explicit permission and can be disconnected at any time in the App or revoked through Android or Health Connect settings.

App Usage Data (Android UsageStats): if you enable automatic app tracking for a “Reduce Usage” habit, Habits may read screen time data for the specific apps you select. This data is used only to automatically track the habit you configured.

Location Data: if you enable weather features in Your Day, Habits may request approximate location, such as city-level coordinates, to fetch local weather information. Your location is used for this feature and is not stored on our servers.

Notifications: if you enable reminders, Habits may send habit reminders, bedtime reminders, workout notifications, and other app notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

Habit Tracking: to create calendars, calculate streaks, track progress, generate summaries, and provide feedback on your routines.

Sleep Tracking and Analysis: to calculate sleep scores, track sleep debt, compare sleep against your goals, show sleep trends, and provide sleep-related insights. When watch sync is enabled, sleep and biometric data imported from Health Connect may be stored in the cloud linked to your Habits account so it can sync across devices and power sleep analysis and insights.

Fitness Analytics: to track workout volume, detect personal records, generate muscle heatmaps, analyze training consistency, display workout summaries, and provide training-related insights.

Reading Tracking: to track reading progress, manage your book library, show reading statistics, and organize reading notes.

AI-Powered Book Recommendations: Habits uses Google Gemini AI through Firebase AI to generate personalized book recommendations. Only book metadata, such as titles, authors, and categories, is sent for this purpose. We do not include your name, email address, or other directly identifying account information in these requests.

Habit Recommendations: internal algorithms may analyze your habits and activity inside the App to suggest relevant habits or improvements.

Weather Display: approximate location may be sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve local weather information for daily entries.

Cloud Sync: to securely store and sync your data across devices linked to your Habits account.

Widgets: to display habit, gym, calendar, and sleep information on your device’s home screen.

Exports: to let you export your data, notes, or summaries. Some exports may be generated locally on your device; others may include data stored in your Habits account.

App Usage Tracking: selected app screen time is used only to auto-fill the habit metrics you enabled.

Security and Reliability: to authenticate users, protect accounts, prevent abuse, detect crashes, and improve App performance.

3. Device Permissions

Camera and Gallery: used to set a profile picture, capture daily memories, upload photos or videos, and attach images to notes.

Notifications: used for reminders, bedtime alerts, workout notifications, and other App alerts.

Foreground Service (Android): used during active workout sessions to keep timers and workout tracking running when the App is in the background.

Health Connect: optional. Required only if you enable watch-based sleep sync. Used to read sleep and related biometric data that you explicitly authorize.

App Usage Access (Android): optional. Required only if you enable automatic app tracking for selected “Reduce Usage” habits. You can revoke this permission at any time through system settings.

Location: optional. Required only for weather features. Habits requests approximate location and does not store your coordinates on our servers.

Storage / Media Access: used when needed to select, save, upload, or export images, videos, and files.

4. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services strictly as necessary to operate, secure, improve, and monetize the App:

Google Firebase: authentication, database, cloud storage, Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config, App Check, and related infrastructure.

RevenueCat: subscription and purchase management.

Google Gemini AI: book recommendations based on limited book metadata.

Google Books API: book search and metadata retrieval.

Open-Meteo: weather data. Receives approximate coordinates when weather features are enabled.

Google Play Services / Android Health Connect: access to Health Connect data only after user authorization.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Health Connect and Sensitive Health Data

Health Connect data is treated as sensitive information. Habits only reads Health Connect data after you grant permission.

Health Connect data may include sleep and biometric information, depending on what your device, wearable, or other health apps make available and what you authorize.

Habits uses this data only for App features such as sleep tracking, cloud sync, analytics, insights, and widgets. We do not use Health Connect data for advertising. We do not sell Health Connect data. We do not share Health Connect data with data brokers.

You may disconnect Health Connect inside the App or revoke permissions through Android or Health Connect settings. Disconnecting Health Connect stops future imports but does not automatically delete sleep data already stored in Habits. You can delete sleep data in the App or delete your account.

6. Security and Data Retention

Your data is stored using secure cloud infrastructure provided by Google Firebase. Media files may be compressed or optimized for performance.

We retain your data while your account exists or as needed to provide App features. You may delete specific sleep data inside the App where available, or request deletion of your account and associated data.

Account deletion removes data stored by Habits, including habit data, sleep records, sleep notes, sleep goals, workout logs, reading data, media, and other profile-associated content stored on our servers.

Deleting your Habits account does not delete original data stored in Health Connect, your wearable, or other health apps. To remove that source data, manage it directly in Health Connect or in the original app or device.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

Access: request information about the data associated with your account.

Correction: update or correct your information through the App.

Deletion: delete your account and associated data.

Export: export available data through App tools where supported.

Revocation of Consent: withdraw permissions such as Health Connect, location, app usage access, and notifications through the App or your device settings.

To exercise rights not available directly in the App, contact us at the email below.

8. Children’s Privacy

Habits is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we may notify you through the App or by updating the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
