Open the app in any web browser and it should look something like the image on the left. The app includes a short description, instructions, and contact information in a text box on the left side of the screen. Hide this text box by clicking on the "Hide user guide" button on the bottom of the text box.
This app is powered by Earth Engine Apps and contains 3 basic features.
1) A text box explaining the app,
2) A map on which the layers are visualized,
3) A toolbar on the right side of the screen to interact with the maps of habitat suitability.
The search bar on the top of the screen is not specific to this app. Rather, it allows you to search for locations anywhere in the world and can quickly take you beyond the extent of our app and habitat suitability predictions.
Use your cursor to navigate around the map and control the zoom level. The app also includes a zoom tool on the top left corner of the map. Finally, use the drop-down menu on the right side of the screen to select regions on which to center the map.
Use the tools on the right side of the screen to interact with the map, select regions of interest, and generate optional charts.
The bottom 2 buttons generate graphs with different information about rail habitat suitability. The first button creates a graph showing 10 years of habitat suitability for any point within the prediction extent with a 2-step process. First, click on the button to "activate" the cursor. The cursor will change from a hand to a "crosshairs." With the active cursor, click anywhere within the prediction layer (i.e., click on any pixel that includes a prediction of habitat suitability). The app will generate a graph with 10 years of habitat suitability at that point. Once the graph is created, the cursor is no longer "active." Simply click on the button again to generate a graph at a different location.
