Head Player Development Coach
Coach James Muscatello, known by many as "Coach Musky," has over 15 years of experience in player development. As the founder of H3 Hockey Development, James has dedicated more than 6,000 hours to coaching private lessons, camps, and clinics, guiding athletes of all levels, from youth to collegiate, toward reaching their full potential both on and off the ice.
James’s approach is defined by his commitment to empowering athletes and creating an environment that builds confidence, sharpens skills, and encourages personal growth. His coaching philosophy, rooted in the principles of Head-Heart-Hustle (H3), emphasizes discipline, resilience, and teamwork. This holistic focus ensures that players not only refine their technical abilities but also grow into positive influences within their communities. Known as a trusted mentor, James supports athletes in navigating the challenges of their hockey journeys, offering valuable guidance on team selection, career planning, and long-term development.
Raised in Baldwinsville, NY, James began his own hockey journey with Baldwinsville High School, where as captain he led the team to its first-ever State Championship appearance and was named New York State Player of the Year. He went on to Northwood Prep in Lake Placid, NY, contributing to the school’s first 40-win season, before playing four years of NCAA Division III hockey at Fredonia State University. At Fredonia, he was named captain, won a SUNYAC Championship in 2007, and helped the team reach the NCAA Elite 8.
Prior to founding H3, James served as head coach of the Syracuse Stampede Junior A Hockey Club, where his teams compiled an impressive 103-15-5-4 record and captured multiple championships. His ability to motivate and develop players at the junior level cemented his reputation as an impactful coach.
Now based in Baldwinsville with his wife and three young children, James continues to shape the next generation of athletes. His influence extends beyond the rink, where he inspires players to pursue excellence, embrace challenges, and grow into the best versions of themselves,both in hockey and in life

Ryan Muscatello is a recent graduate of Siena College, where he made a significant impact as a key member of the defensive group on their ACHA hockey team for four years. Ryan’s strong presence on the ice and commitment to his role made him a mainstay in Siena’s defense, showcasing his skill, leadership, and dedication to the game.
Before his time at Siena, Ryan spent a postgraduate year at Winchendon School, where he further honed his skills and prepared for collegiate hockey. Prior to that, Ryan played four years of high school hockey at Baldwinsville High School, where he developed his love for the game and built a solid foundation as a player.
Having gained valuable experience both at the high school and collegiate levels, Ryan is now eager to give back to the sport that has shaped him. His passion for hockey drives him to share his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of players. As a coach and instructor, Ryan is committed to helping young athletes grow, improve their skills, and develop a strong understanding of the game. Through his coaching, Ryan aims to inspire players while fostering a positive and supportive environment for their growth both on and off the ice.
