A childhood negative experience with a social worker sparked my desire to improve the system. Rather than developing disdain for the profession, I became determined to create change, especially in the treatment of children and families. To pursue this goal, I have applied to the School of Social Work at Indiana University Indianapolis, where strong social work courses will equip me with the skills needed to make my dream a reality.
This goal aligns with my passion for becoming a social worker, which was shaped by a difficult experience in my childhood. Pursuing this path has given me a clear vision of the impact I want to make, particularly in improving the treatment of children and families. As a current student, I am committed to gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve my future goal of becoming a social worker.
My Journey Map
Reflection
While creating my journey map, I focused on the long-term goals I aim to achieve throughout my college education. This assignment helped me visualize the steps I want to take each year and identify the experiences and programs that will guide me toward my ultimate goal of becoming a social worker. It also allowed me to begin applications for these opportunities and plan how to integrate them into my schedule.
"Doing this assignment allowed me to know how to plan, so I can be on track to reach my goal of becoming a social worker."
